Fans rally to Children’s Mercy Park in anticipation of an exciting season opener against New York City FC. Prior to the big game, fans had the opportunity to attend the season kick-off party on February 28th. Fans were introduced to the 2018 Sporting KC team, fashioned in new black uniforms along with a brief special introduction to the newest members of the team. Nate Bukaty, Sporting KC play-by-play announcer, led fans through several chants commonly heard from the KC Cauldron on game day.

Made in KC.

They also heard from Jake Reid (club president), Peter Vermes (head coach), as well as several of the new players called up to lead the famous “I believe…” chant. One female fan was called up to the stage, a season ticket holder since 1996, to help lead the chant. After the speeches and introductions, players and coaching staff mingled with fans to discuss the upcoming season and how they are preparing, contributing to Sporting KC’s strong fan connection.

Fans enjoyed the game.

Female fans excitedly prepare for the season with the rest of the crowd; purchasing new apparel, hanging banners in the KC Cauldron, and cheering whole-heartedly for their beloved city.
