El fútbol ha regresado el ‘Infierno Azul’. El equipo de Peter Vermes recibió al Toluca en partido por la Concacaf Liga de Campeones.

Un partido donde el equipo de casa venía de una buena pre-temporada y el equipo mexicano pasando por una seguidilla de malos resultados. En los últimos 3 partidos Toluca solo habían conseguido 1 punto de 9 posibles. Esté era el momento para los chicos de Hernán Cristante para retomar el mando de su mala situación.

El primer tiempo comenzó bastante tranquilo, dónde por momentos el equipo de casa controló. En los primeros 15 minutos el Toluca tuvo oportunidades importantes pero no se concretaron. Nemeth también rozó el larguero de la portería de Talavera.

En el minuto 21, Toluca hizo un cambio obligado ya que el argentino Triverio salió lesionado y en su lugar entró Gigliotti. En el minuto 35 Sporting KC se pondría arriba en el marcador cuando del delantero Nemeth, luego de una confusión entre los centrales del equipo choricero mando el balón al fondo de la red para el 1-0.

Ya en la segunda mitad, Gigliotti tuvo una oportunidad clarísima que mando por encima de la portería de Melia. Al minute 52, el jugador más incisivo Gerso Fernandes, anotó el segundo para Sporting KC después de una gran jugada individual. Llegaría el tercer gol y definitivo de la noche al minute 72, Illie Sánchez anotó un golazo desde fuera del área chica y de campanita que sentenció el partido.

En la conferencia de prensa, Hernán Cristante director técnico de Toluca dijo “No, el clima puede ser una gran excusa pero estuvimos mal con la pelota, no con el clima. Estuvimos mal en el recorrido, no con el clima. Estuvimos mal en la terminación de las jugadas, no con el clima. Tuvimos las situaciones para poder concretar algo pero no estuvimos certeros y nos pasó lo mismo en defensa”.

Por su parte Peter Vermes, Director técnico de Sporting KC llego muy sonriente y contento con el resultado, y lo mejor de todo que el clima en su opinión fue el mejor para recibir al Toluca. “Estoy muy orgulloso de mis jugadores, mostraron ganas y siempre jugaron juntos. Sabemos que el partido en Toluca va a estar difícil por la altura”.

El partido de vuelta se jugará en el estadio Nemesio Díez el 28 de Febrero a las 9 de la noche donde los diablos rojos del Toluca buscarán revertir el marcador.

Football has returned to the ‘Blue Hell’. Peter Vermes and Sporting KC Squad received Toluca in a match for the Concacaf Champions League.

A match where the home team came from a good pre-season and the Mexican team going through a string of poor results. In the last 3 matches Toluca had only 1 point out of 9 possible. This was the moment for the boys of Hernan Cristante to take control of their bad situation.

The first half started slow for both Toluca and Sporting KC. At times the home team controlled and was more aggressive. In the first 15 minutes Toluca had good opportunities to put the ball in the net, but the offense could finished. Krisztian Nemeth of Sporting KC also brushed the crossbar of Talavera’s goal.

In the 21st minute, Toluca made a forced substitution as the Argentine striker, Triverio was injured and replaced by Gigliotti. In the 35th minute, Nemeth, after a confusion between the “choriceros” defenders scored a goal to gain the lead as Sporting KC was the better team at the moment.

Starting the second half, Gigliotti for Toluca had a clear opportunity that he sent over the goal of Melia. Minutes later the most incisive player Gerso Fernandes, scored the second goal of the night after a great collective play.

With 17 minutes left for the final whistle, Illie Sánchez scored a great goal from outside the box that sentenced the game and gave Sporting KC the 3-0 lead heading to Mexico City for the second leg game next week.

At the press conference, Hernand Cristante Technical Director for Toluca said “No, the weather can be a great excuse but we were wrong with the ball, not with the weather. Peter Vermes, Sporting KC Head Coach said “I am very proud of my players, they showed desire and always together. We know that the game in Toluca will be difficult because of the height”.

The second leg will be played at the Nemesio Díez Stadium on February 28th at 9:P.M. where the red devils of Toluca will seek to reverse the adverse score.
