Niemi juró como presidente de la junta electoral

TULSA, OK – Bruce Niemi fue juramentado la semana pasada como nuevo Presidente de la Junta Electoral del Condado de Tulsa.

Niemi, ex representante del Estado demócrata y educador, sucede a Elaine Dodd al asumir el cargo, un mandato de cuatro años.

“Este no es solo un verdadero honor asumir este cargo, sino un gran trabajo que hacer cuando la democracia se enfrenta a la nación y al mundo”, dijo Niemi. “Supervisar las elecciones y contar con precisión y honestidad los votos es responsabilidad de los funcionarios electorales”.

La tulsana Megan Cruz fue nombrada miembro suplente de la junta de elecciones, sucediendo a Christie Breedlove.

El sitio web del condado de Tulsa explica que la junta de elecciones actualmente consta de tres miembros de la Junta y un personal de diecisiete.

Niemi sworn in as Election Board Chair

TULSA, OK — Bruce Niemi was sworn in last week as the new Chair of the Tulsa County Election Board.

Niemi, a former Democratic State Representative and educator, succeeds Elaine Dodd in assuming the position, a four-year term.

“This is not only a real honor to assume this job but very much a real job to do when democracy is being challenged across the nation and the world,” Niemi said. “Overseeing elections and accurately and honestly counting the votes is the responsibility of election officials.”

Tulsan Megan Cruz was named as alternate member of the Election Board, succeeding Christie Breedlove.

The Tulsa County website explains that the Tulsa County Election Board currently consists of three Board members and a staff of seventeen.

“The Chairman and Vice-Chairman are appointed by their political party and the Secretary is appointed by Tulsa County senators,” the website states.” All appointments are certified by the State Election Board. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman are present when the Board is taking any action, such as certifying election results or conducting a contest of candidacy hearing. The Secretary of the Election Board actually directs the Board and oversees the administration of the office.”

Niemi, who has been active in voter registration efforts for years through his work with the Coalition for the American Dream (ADC), vowed to uphold voting rights through every means available to his office.

“I pledge to you over the next four years I shall do my best to execute this important responsibility for the people of Tulsa County,” Niemi said, “so help me God.” (La Semana)
