Bartlesville: Next Citizens Police Academy to start in March 2020

La próxima academia de policía de ciudadanos de Bartlesville comienza el 12 de marzo de 2020 y termina el 21 de mayo de 2020, dijo recientemente el jefe de policía Tracy Roles.
“El departamento de policía se complace en ofrecer una vez más esta gran oportunidad para que los ciudadanos tengan una visión de primera mano sobre cómo los oficiales realizan sus tareas y cómo el departamento de policía de Bartlesville sirve a la comunidad”, añadió Roles.
La academia está diseñada para aumentar la comprensión entre los ciudadanos y la policía educando a la comunidad. La intención es familiarizar a los ciudadanos con el papel de la policía en el sistema de justicia penal y proporcionar una mayor comprensión de las tareas y deberes que enfrentan los agentes de policía en su trabajo diario.
“Esto promueve una mejor comprensión y ayuda a los ciudadanos a encontrar soluciones realistas a los problemas de la comunidad o del vecindario”, dijo Roles.
Los participantes se reunirán una noche a la semana a partir de las 6 p.m. hasta las 9 p.m. durante 11 semanas y recibiran aproximadamente 33 horas de instrucción en el aula por parte de oficiales de policía con una combinación de formato de conferencia e instrucción práctica / escenario.
“El enfoque de la capacitación es crear un público informado que pueda comprender mejor las decisiones tomadas por el departamento de policía”, dijo Roles. “Queremos que los participantes tengan suficiente información de fondo para saber por qué la policía ‘hace lo que hace’, y esperamos que estas clases rompan muchas barreras entre la policía y los ciudadanos”.
Los solicitantes deben tener al menos 18 años de edad, vivir o trabajar en el área de Bartlesville / Dewey y pasar una verificación de antecedentes a satisfacción de la administración del departamento de policía.
Las solicitudes están disponibles en línea o en el departamento de policía, 615 S. Johnstone Ave. El horario de atención es de 8 a.m. a 5 p.m. Las solicitudes deben enviarse al departamento de policía antes del 14 de febrero de 2020. El tamaño de la clase está limitado a 20.

Bartlesville: Next Citizens Police Academy to start in March 2020
Bartlesville, OK — The next Bartlesville Citizens Police Academy begins March 12, 2020, and ends May 21, 2020, Police Chief Tracy Roles said recently.
“The police department is excited to once again offer this great opportunity for citizens to have firsthand insight into how officers perform their duties and how the Bartlesville Police Department serves the community,” Roles said.
The academy is designed to increase the understanding between the citizens and the police by educating the community. The intent is to acquaint citizens with law enforcement’s role in the criminal justice system and provide increased understanding of the tasks and duties that police officers face in their daily work.
“This promotes better understanding and assists the citizens in finding realistic solutions to the community’s or neighborhood problems,” Roles said.
Participants will meet one night a week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 11 weeks and receive approximately 33 hours of classroom instruction by police officers with a mixture of lecture format and scenario/hands-on instruction.
“The focus of the training is to create an informed public that is better able to understand decisions made by the police department,” Roles said. “We want participants to have enough background information to know why the police ‘do what they do,’ and we hope these classes will break down many barriers between the police and the public.”
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, live or work in the Bartlesville/Dewey area and pass a background check to the satisfaction of police department administration.
Applications are available online or at the police department, 615 S. Johnstone Ave. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applications should be submitted to the police department by Feb. 14, 2020. Class size is limited to 20.
