TULSA, OK – Una semana de tres partidos terminó de manera positiva para el FC Tulsa, ya que obtuvo una victoria por 1-0 sobre Rogers State en la carretera el sábado por la tarde.

En su primer partido como visitante de la pretemporada 2020, el FC Tulsa fue dominante sobre la NCAA Div. II, al no permitir disparos a su portería y sacudir la red de Rogers State. Tulsa encontró el gol de la victoria en el minuto 65 ‘cuando el delantero Darío Suárez hizo un gran disparo de tiro libre para marcar un gol desde fuera del área.

El partido le dio al entrenador en jefe Michael Nsien la oportunidad de jugar con muchos de sus titulares proyectados durante minutos prolongados, ya que los 10 jugadores de campo registraron al menos 65 minutos de juego.

“Queríamos centrarnos en algunas fases del juego, en primer lugar la defensa”, dijo Nsien. “Al perder la pelota, qué tan rápido podriamos recuperarla y ponernos en nuestra posesión. La elaboración fue buena, y nos metimos en el centro del campo bastante limpios.

Fue la estrella de pretemporada de Tulsa, Suárez, quien encontró el gol a la mitad del segundo tiempo. Después de que su compañero, el tambien atacante, Marlon obtuvo un tiro libre justo fuera del área grande, Suárez hizo un disparo con rosca alrededor de la barrera de Rogers State que se metió por la esquina inferior de la red. Fue el tercer gol del cubano en la pretemporada en cuatro partidos.

“Sí, estoy muy orgulloso de lo que estamos haciendo y logrando hasta ahora”, dijo Suárez. “Todos los días el equipo mejora, y estamos buscando comenzar la temporada con el pie derecho el 7 de marzo. Estoy feliz porque mis objetivos han ayudado al equipo a seguir ganando”.

TULSA, OK — A three-match week ended in victory for FC Tulsa as it earned a 1-0 win over Rogers State on the road on Saturday afternoon.

In its first road match of the 2020 preseason, FC Tulsa was dominant over the NCAA Div. II side, allowing zero shots on target, and peppering the Rogers State net. Tulsa found the breakthrough in the 65′ minute when forward Darío Suárez bent in a free kick for a goal from just outside the box.

The match provided head coach Michael Nsien with a chance to play many of his projected starters for extended minutes, as all 10 of the outfield players logged at least 65 minutes on the afternoon.

“We wanted to focus on a few phases of the game, firstly defense,” Nsien said. “When losing the ball, how quickly can we get the ball back and get into our possession. The buildup was good, and we got into the midfield pretty clean. The final third still needs work, but that’s the last part that always comes. So, we’ll be hoping to get into an attacking rhythm here in the next week or two before the season kicks off, but happy with the defensive side and the first two-thirds of our buildup.”

It was Tulsa’s preseason star, Suárez, who found the breakthrough midway through the second half. After fellow forward Marlon earned a free kick just outside the top of the box, Suárez curved his set piece around the Rogers State wall and into the bottom corner of the net. It was the Cuban’s third goal of the preseason in four matches.

“Yes, I’m very proud of what we’re doing and achieving so far,” Suárez said. “Every day the team improves, and we are looking to start the season on the right foot on March 7. I’m happy because my goals have helped the team to continue to win.”

Neither FC Tulsa keeper, Bryan Byars in the first half and Sean Lewis in the second, was forced to make a save during the match as the Tulsa backline consistently stifled the Hillcats’ attack.
