Habit Mural Festival ilumina el centro / Habit Mural Festival brightens downtown

Después de un aplazamiento de tres meses debido a la pandemia de coronavirus, Habit Mural Fest regresó recientemente a Tulsa para iluminar la ciudad con arte fresco y en vivo. Este año la acción artística se ubicó en Admiral, en el centro de East Village el 13 de junio, durante todo el día, 20 talentosos artistas transformaron muros monótonos en vibrantes obras de arte.

“Ahora, más que nunca, sentimos que el arte público es esencial”, dijeron los organizadores del festival en Facebook.

El popular evento anual se transmitió en vivo en línea en www.twitch.tv/habitfest donde todavía se puede ver si lo perdiste en vivo.

Entre los artistas y Djs que participaron en el Habit Mural Fest 2020 se encuentran Zuawe, Up Doggs, Gabriel Rojas, Lucas Wisner, Sarah Thompson, Zynb, Daniel Sutliff, CD-ROM, Lessons in Fresh Crew, Heartwerk y Clipart.

“Quería rendir homenaje al majestuoso Cóndor Andino”, dijo Rojas sobre el mural que creó. “Un icono de mis ancestros y un símbolo de fuerza, salud e inteligencia. Está incluido en la parte superior izquierda como la conexión entre la tierra y los cielos”.

El mural de Rojas se puede ver en la esquina de Admiral y S. Iroquis, al final del edificio orientado hacia el oeste.

Entre los patrocinadores del festival de murales de este año se encuentran George Kaiser Family Foundation, COOP Ale Works, Fowler, Gateway Building, Zarrow Family Foundation y Clean Hands. (La Semana)

Habit Mural Festival brightens downtown

After a three month postponement due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Habit Mural Fest returned to Tulsa recently to brighten the city with fresh, live art. This year the art action was located on Admiral in downtown’s East Village, and throughout the day on June 13th, 20 talented artists turned drab building walls into vibrant works of art.

“Now, more than ever, we feel public art is essential,” festival organizers said on Facebook.

The popular annual event was livestreamed online at www.twitch.tv/habitfest where it can still be seen if you missed it live.

Artists and DJs who participated in Habit Mural Fest 2020 include Zuawe, Up Doggs, Gabriel Rojas, Lucas Wisner, Sarah Thompson, Zynb, Daniel Sutliff, CD-ROM, Lessons in Fresh Crew, Heartwerk, and Clipart.

“I wanted to give tribute to the majestic Andean Condor,” Rojas said of the mural he created. “An icon of my ancestors and a symbol of strength, health, and intelligence. Included in the top left as the connection between the earth and the skies.”

Rojas’ mural can be seen on the corner of Admiral and S. Iroquis, on the end of the building facing west.
