Neymar fue el gran protagonista del partido entre el PSG y el Olympíque de Marsella, que acabó con triunfo para el visitante por 1 a 0, luego de 11 años sin festejos en del clásico. El brasileño, que había tenido una buena actuación en los primeros minutos, se olvidó del juego luego de un cruce que mantuvo con el español Álvaro González, a quien finalmente agredió físicamente en el final del encuentro.

El ex Barcelona acusó en la primera mitad al defensor de racista, aunque los micrófonos de la transmisión oficial no pudieron captar que el jugador del Marsella pronunciase algún insulto de esta índole. Esa discusión a los gritos no fue sancionada por el árbitro, pero quedó claro que a partir de ese momento nació un duelo personal entre ambos.

Sobre el final del partido, en el cuarto minuto de adición, el brasileño fue en búsqueda del zaguero español. primero lo empujó contra la línea de cal y luego tuvo un fuerte entredicho. Más tarde, aprovechó la batalla campal desatada por el cruce entre Leandro Paredes y Darío Benedetto, para golpear a González. En un primer momento, el árbitro no lo expulsó por esa piña, pero al revisar la acción en el VAR pudo comprobar la acción y le mostró la tarjeta roja.

Al salir rumbo al campo de juego, Ney se enojó con el árbitro asistente y luego gritó ante cámara: “Es un racista, por eso le pegué”. No conforme con eso, se quedó parado en el túnel que dan a los vestuarios, aguardando por su rival a quien había amenazado con golperlo tras el pitazo final.

Una vez terminado el encuentro, el goleador tuiteó: “Mi único arrepentimiento que tengo es no haberle dado a este imbécil en la cara”.

PSG star Neymar accused Alvaro González of racism during a heated Classique affair, after which the Brazil star tweeted that he regretted not hitting “this asshole”.

Le Classique between PSG and Marseille is normally a heated occassion. But Sunday’s frantic affair was hotter than most, with five players sent off at the end of the game following a clash involving several players from both clubs.

A staggering fourteen yellow cards were also handed out during the match, which Marseille won 1-0 to secure their first victory over PSG in Paris since 2011.

The unsavoury behaviour began well before half time, with PSG star Neymar getting involved in a spat with Marseille’s Alvaro Gonzalez that ended with the Brazilian accusing the Spaniard of racism.

As Neymar approached the sideline to confront the Marseille bench and the referee after the incident with Alvaro, a TV microphone picked up the Brazilian saying, “Racism, no, Racism, No,” as he pointed at the Marseille player.

Later, after being one of the five players sent off deep into injury time, Neymar again claimed he was racially abused, addressing the assistant referee as he walked off the pitch. “There was a racist comment there, that’s why I did it,” he could be heard telling the assistant.

According to Get France Football News, Téléfoot Chaine reporter Gregoire Margotton, one of France’s most respected football journalists, later claimed that Alvaro told Neymar: “Shut your mouth, dirty monkey.” Though GFFN states that those claims are yet to be verified.

Whatever was said, the incident has clearly left Neymar incensed, with the Brazilian striker tweeting he regrets not having hit Alvaro during the game.

“The only regret I have is not hitting this asshole in the face,” wrote the PSG star in what is seemingly a reference to Alvaro, who, for his part, has reportedly, accused Angel Di María of spitting on him.
