OWASSO, Okla. – Una pareja de Owasso está organizando una venta de garaje que, según dicen, ayudará a uno de ellos a recaudar dinero para un trasplante de hígado.
Los médicos diagnosticaron a Michael Ellis con cirrosis hepática en julio de 2020. Ellis le dijo a FOX23 que, sin un trasplante, estiman que le quedan unos seis meses de vida.
Ellis dice que el seguro cubrió su consulta, pero todavía necesitan dinero para varias pruebas y evaluaciones en el Instituto de Trasplantes INTEGRIS Nazih Zuhdi en la ciudad de Oklahoma.
Melissa Kendall, coordinadora de trasplantes de INTEGRIS dice que una vez que Ellis se enfrente a las pruebas, un comité decidirá si lo incluirán en una lista de trasplantes.
La pareja está llevando a cabo la venta de garaje en un esfuerzo por recaudar $ 8.500 para realizar las pruebas que necesita. También están poniendo su casa a la venta en un esfuerzo por reducir el tamaño y mudarse más cerca del centro de trasplantes.

Owasso yard sale raising money for man’s liver transplant

OWASSO, Okla. — An Owasso couple is hosting a yard sale that they say will help one of them raise money for a liver transplant.
Doctors diagnosed Michael Ellis with liver cirrhosis in July 2020. Ellis told FOX23 that without a transplant they estimate he has about six months to live.
Ellis says that insurance covered his consultation but they still need money for several tests and evaluations at INTEGRIS Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in Oklahoma City.
Melissa Kendall, Transplant Coordinator at INTEGRIS says that once Ellis foes through testing, a committee will decide whether he will be put on a transplant list.
The couple is holding the yard sale in an effort to raise $8,500 to put toward the tests he needs. They’re also putting their home up for sale in an effort to downsize and move closer to the transplant center.
The yard sale is every weekend from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the end of May.
