Canelo Álvarez busca cuarto título supermediano ante Plant en noviembre

El ‘Canelo’, con 56 victorias, 38 por nocaut, una derrota y dos empates, inició la conquista de la división supermediana en diciembre al despojar al inglés Callum Smith de los títulos del CMB y AMB

El mexicano Saúl «Canelo» Álvarez, considerado el mejor boxeador libra por libra del momento, buscará ser el primer peleador en unificar los cuatro títulos mundiales supermedianos cuando enfrente al estadounidense Caleb Plant el 6 de noviembre en Las Vegas.
«Este 6 de noviembre vamos a poner al boxeo de México en todo lo alto. ¡Vamos por el cinturón que nos falta!», anunció el ‘Canelo’ este jueves en sus redes sociales la pelea contra Plant, quien tiene el cinturón supermediano de la Federación Internacional de Boxeo (FIB).

Álvarez derrotó el pasado 8 de mayo por nocaut al inglés Billy Joe Saunders, a quien le arrebató el título supermediano de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB), que se unió a sus fajas del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) y la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo (AMB).

Con tres de los cuatro cinturones en sus manos, al ‘Canelo’ le falta solo el de la FIB de Plant, un peleador invicto con récord de 21 victorias, 12 por la vía rápida.

Álvarez pretendía enfrentar al estadounidense en septiembre, un mes importante para los mexicanos porque se celebra su Independencia, pero las negociaciones entre ambos púgiles retrasaron el combate para el 6 de noviembre.

Con ellos en la cintura noqueó a Saunders para confirmarse como el mejor boxeador del momento. Álvarez tiene marca de 16 triunfos, un empate y una derrota en peleas de título mundial.

Plant, por su parte, ganó el cinturón supermediano de la FIB al derrotar por decisión unánime en enero de 2019 al venezolano José Uzcátegui.

Plant ha defendido su fajín ante sus compatriotas Mike Lee y Caleb Truax, además del alemán Vincent Feigenbutz. Su última pelea fue en contra de Truax en enero pasado, al que venció por decisión unánime.

‘Canelo’ Álvarez seeks fourth super middleweight title against Plant in November
