Apple estaría preparando el lanzamiento de un Mac Mini “más potente”

A diferencia de su predecesor, la nueva versión revisada del dispositivo permitiría trabajos de alta carga como edición de software y video

Según un boletín por el periodista de Bloomberg, Mark Gurman, Apple estaría trabajando en una nueva versión mejorada de su línea de aparatos Mac Mini. Esta nueva versión haría uso del chip M1X y prometería completar trabajos que requieran más potencia que su predecesor.

Para los primeros dos dispositivos la compañía ya anunció nuevas versiones revisadas que se esperan lleguen a lo largo de este y el próximo año, pero ahora sería también el turno de la serie Mini.

La versión de Mac Mini que salió para 2020, si bien dio uso al nuevo procesador de Apple, no se presentó como la mejor herramienta para labores que requirieran un trabajo pesado. Por el contrario, tal edición de la máquina se consideró más para tareas que sean mucho más casuales como un uso cotidiano mediante actividades como ver videos o películas a través de servicios de streaming.

Debido a tal diferencia, Apple aún seguía ofreciendo la versión previa del dispositivo para labores que requirieran más potencia, la cual estaba trabajando con una arquitectura de Intel en vez de los nuevos chips propios de la compañía. Una de las principales diferencias a simple vista entre ambas versiones fue la desaparición de un gran número de puertos en el Mac Mini de 2020.

La principal diferencia de la nueva versión del Mac Mini sería el uso del nuevo procesador de la línea M1X, un nombre que ha estado circulando desde hace un rato que podría referirse a una nueva versión mejorada del actual procesador M1 de la marca. Como referencia, en el caso de los procesadores “X” de iPad se ha visto un incremento en el número de núcleos de GPU y CPU, un detalle que le vendría bastante bien al nuevo aparato.

En teoría, la nueva versión del Mac Mini ofrecería la potencia necesaria para reemplazar a la versión con arquitectura de Intel en labores tales como proyectos de desarrollo de software, edición de video y hasta como servidor en redes locales. Por requerimientos como tales, la nueva edición también contaría con más puertos, entre otras novedades.

Se pronostica que el chip M1X permitirá a Apple ofrecer una línea completa de puertos entre los cuales estarían incluidos cuatro puertos USB4 / Thunderbolt 3, dos USB-A, Ethernet y salida HDMI.

Lo más importante al respecto sería que Apple planea un pronto anuncio y lanzamiento de esta revisión del Mac Mini, lo cual tiene bastante sentido después de la oleada de anuncios de renovaciones que ya ha hecho la empresa en cuanto a nuevas ediciones del MacBook Pro y hasta el iMac que ya están en camino.
