“No caigan en manos de gestores” / Mexican Consulate shares information for 2022

En una entrevista de La Semana del Sur con el encargado de comunicación social de el consulado de Mexico en Little Rock, Victor Nabil Lugo Alí, quien envió un mensaje a sus conciudadanos a mantener las medidas de bioseguridad, que se pongan las vacunas y los mejores deseos de su parte para este 2022.

Hay noticias importantes para la comunidad mexicana por el aumento en los costos de trámites y servicios consulares para este 2022.

El pasaporte de tres años ahora tendrá un costo de ochenta y ocho dólares, (88 dólares)

El pasaporte de seis años 120 dólares y el pasaporte de diez años un valor de ciento ochenta y un dólares (181 dólares). La matrícula consular tiene un costo de treinta y seis dólares ($36). Es importante mencionar que a los adultos mayores de 60 años obtienen un 50 por ciento de descuento solamente en el trámite de pasaportes. En los casos de emergencia tiene un cobro adicional de 30 por ciento. “En casos de emergencia nos referimos ha aquellas personas que tienen algún viaje de emergencia y tienen el pasaporte vencido”.

También hay un aumento en las copias certificadas de acta de nacimiento, ahora tendrán un costo de dieciséis dólares ($16). En el caso de registro de nacimiento y doble ciudadanía es totalmente gratuito.

Sin embargo, cuando soliciten un acta adicional tendrá un costo igual de dieciséis dólares. Las visas ahora tienen un costo de cuarenta y siete dólares.

Le preguntamos a Nabil Lugo acerca de los horarios que maneja el consulado de Little Rock de Arkansas, ¿por qué hay muchas quejas diciendo que nunca atienden, que el teléfono está siempre cupado?

Nos respondió que el horario de atención se mantiene de lunes a viernes de 8 de la mañana a 5 de la tarde. El horario para apertura de citas son todos los lunes a partir de las 9 de la mañana y están disponibles por medio del Call Center de Mexitel por esta vía agendamos las citas para pasaporte y matrículas consulares y credencial para votar. El número de teléfono de MEXITEL es 1-877-639-4835.

Pero hay mucha dificultad para comunicarse a través de Mexitel. El equipo de La Semana  intentó comunicarse por esa vía e hizo alrededor de seis intentos fallidos, y esa es la principal queja de la gente.

Nabil Lugo respondió que ellos recomiendan a todas las personas que intenten hacer su cita por internet. Y añadió que en el Call Center de Mexitel hay horarios en los que se encuentra totalmente saturada la línea.

Comentó que son 50 consulados de México en Estados Unidos los cuales tienen agendas o citas por medio de Mexitel. “Hay días en los que son muchas personas llamando de todas partes de Estados Unidos para agendar su cita al consulado más cercano y el tiempo de espera puede ser de 10, 20 minutos  o incluso hasta media hora. Por eso la recomendación que les hacemos es de que lo hagan por internet. Es más sencillo y es más rápido”.

El horario de atención de Mexitel es de lunes a viernes de 8 de la mañana a 9 de la noche, y los fines de semana sábados y domingos de 8 de la mañana a 2 de la tarde. El Consulado de México en Little Rock en especial mandamos citas nuevas cada semana todos los días lunes a partir de las 9 de la mañana. Son las citas que se van a atender en la semana siguiente y asi sucesivamente. Atendemos por día cerca de ciento veinte personas, para trámites de pasaportes y matrículas consulares . Y las que se agendan son 650 citas por semana.

Todas las personas que tienen cita se les da un horario y se les recibe en ese horario y el día que se les asignó. Y son las personas que estamos atendiendo día a día.

Nabil Lugo tambien nos comentó cuando piensan volver a Oklahoma y a Tulsa con el servicio de consulados móviles. “Bueno, ya la propuesta del calendario se mandó, estamos a la espera de la aprobación. Esperemos que en las próximas dos o tres semanas estemos recibiendo la aprobación por parte de la secretaría de relaciones exteriores para comenzar nuestros consulados móviles al estado de Oklahoma”.

En especial a las ciudades de Tulsa y Oklahoma City, una vez que ya tengamos la aprobación por parte de la secretaría, estaremos difundiendo nuestro calendario en las páginas oficiales del consulado, podría ser el próximo mes de febrero.

También quiero informar, que ya se autorizó por parte de la secretaría de relaciones exteriores la apertura del nuevo consulado en Oklahoma. Aún hay conversaciones entre el gobierno de México y el gobierno de Estados Unidos para todo el proceso de apertura de este consulado, no hay una fecha todavía pero esperamos que sea pronto.

Es oficial y un hecho de que se va a aperturar un consulado de México en Oklahoma. Sin embargo, la fecha exacta no la tenemos pero puede variar esperemos que en el primer semestre de este año ya tengamos noticias de cuándo va a ser la apertura de éste consulado.

Nabil hizo enfasis e invito a toda la comunidad a que se hagan sus citas de manera regular. “Queremos recordarles que son totalmente gratuitas, que tienen que hacerlo por medio de Mexitel, ya sea por el número de teléfono o por la página de internet”.

Invitarlos a que no caigan en manos de los gestores. Las citas son totalmente gratuitas. No tenemos que pagar por obtener una cita e insistimos. No  caer en manos de los gestores, recuerden que es un derecho. Su cita es totalmente gratuita. Yo en especial les invito a que llamen los días lunes a las 9 de la mañana para que puedan completar su cita aquí en el consulado de México.

Mandamos las citas nuevas de cada semana y están disponibles hasta agotar existencias y insistio en no caer en manos de estos estafadores.

Todas las personas que llegan al consulado deben mantener las medidas de bioseguridad, la distancia social, ingresar solamente el numero de personas que deben estar en la cita.

The new year promises new opportunities for Mexicans everywhere, and La Semana recently spoke with the person in charge of social communication at the Mexican consulate in Little Rock, Victor Nabil Lugo Alí, who sent a message to his fellow citizens to maintain biosecurity measures, to get vaccines and he extended his best wishes for 2022.

He also brought important news for the entire Mexican community regarding the increase in the costs of consular procedures and services for this 2022.

The three-year passport will now cost eighty-eight dollars, ($ 88)

The six-year passport is $120 and the ten-year passport is worth one hundred and eighty-one dollars ($181). The consular registration fee is thirty-six dollars ($36). It is important to mention that adults over 60 get a 50 percent discount only on passport processing. In emergencies it has an additional charge of 30 percent.

“In emergency cases we refer to those people who have an emergency trip and have an expired passport,” he said.

There is also an increase in certified copies of birth certificates. Now they will cost sixteen dollars ($ 16). In the case of birth and dual citizenship registration, it is completely free.

However, when they request an additional certificate it will cost the same sixteen dollars. Visas now cost forty-seven dollars.

We asked Nabil Lugo about the hours handled by the Little Rock Arkansas consulate, why are there many complaints saying that they never answer, that the phone is always open?

He replied that the hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. The opening hours of appointments are every Monday from 9 in the morning and they are available through the Mexitel Call Center, in this way we schedule appointments for passport and consular plates and voting credentials. The phone number for MEXITEL is 1-877-639-4835.

But there is a lot of difficulty communicating through Mexitel. The La Semana team tried to communicate in this way and made around six unsuccessful attempts, and that is the main complaint of the people.

Nabil Lugo responded that they recommend that everyone try to make their appointment online. And he added that in the Mexitel Call Center there are hours when the line is fully saturated.

He commented that there are 50 Mexican consulates in the United States which have agendas or appointments through Mexitel.

“There are days when there are many people calling from all over the United States to schedule their appointment at the nearest consulate and the waiting time can be 10, 20 minutes or even up to half an hour,” he explained. “That is why the recommendation we make is that they do it online. It’s simpler and it’s faster.”

“Mexitel’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 in the morning to 9 at night, and on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, from 8 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon,” he continued. “The Consulate of Mexico in Little Rock in particular sees appointments every Monday from 9 in the morning. They are the appointments that will be attended in the following week and so on. We serve about one hundred and twenty people per day, for passport and consular registration procedures. And those that are scheduled are 650 appointments per week. All people who have appointments are given a time and are received at that time and on the day they are assigned. And they are the people we are serving day by day.”

Nabil Lugo also told us when they plan to return to Oklahoma and Tulsa with the mobile consulate service. “Well, the calendar proposal has already been sent, we are awaiting approval. Hopefully in the next two or three weeks we will be receiving approval from the secretary of foreign relations to start our mobile consulates to the state of Oklahoma.”

Especially to the cities of Tulsa and Oklahoma City, once we have the approval from the secretariat, we will be publishing our calendar on the official pages of the consulate, it could be next February.

“I also want to inform you that the opening of the new consulate in Oklahoma has already been authorized by the secretary of foreign affairs,” Nabil Lugo said. “There are still talks between the government of Mexico and the government of the United States for the entire process of opening this consulate — there is no date yet but we hope it will be soon.”

Nabil Lugo emphasized and invited the entire community to make their appointments regularly. “We want to remind them that they are totally free, that they have to do it through Mexitel, either through the phone number or through the website.”

The official warned the public not to fall into the hands of scammers. A

“Appointments are totally free,” he reminded his countrymen. “We do not have to pay to get an appointment and we insist. Do not fall into the hands of the managers, remember that it is a right. Your appointment is completely free. I especially invite you to call on Mondays at 9 in the morning so that you can schedule your appointment here at the Mexican consulate.”

All people who arrive at the consulate must maintain biosecurity measures, social distance, and only the number of people who must be at the appointment can enter.
