Daddy Yankee dice adiós a una carrera de lucha y sacrificio por el reguetón

El reguetonero puertorriqueño Daddy Yankee dijo este viernes a Efe que se lleva consigo, tras anunciar su retiro y su nuevo disco, «lucha y sacrificio», virtudes que convirtieron este género musical en el más escuchado del mundo.
Tras 32 años de carrera, tiempo que al principio de ella el gobierno, la alta sociedad y los medios de comunicación lo «subestimaron», según recordó el artista a Efe, ahora el reguetón «tiene el mundo a sus pies» como el más respaldado.
«Me llevo sacrificio, lucha y un aprendizaje cultural a nivel mundial. El género me llevó a visitar el mundo, los cinco continentes», sostuvo Raymond Ayala, nombre de pila del artista, un día después de haber lanzado su último disco, Legendaddy.
El álbum cuenta con 19 canciones y con colaboraciones de artistas urbanos puertorriqueños como Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro y Myke Towers, así como el panameño Sech y el cubano-estadounidense Pitbull, y las intérpretes Natti Natasha y Becky G.
Bad Bunny, quien participa junto a Daddy Yankee en el tema «X última vez», es actualmente el artista más escuchado a nivel mundial, según las plataformas musicales digitales y a quien mucha gente menciona como el sucesor del veterano reguetonero.
El reguetón tiene el mundo a sus pies
«Ahora el reguetón tiene el mundo a sus pies. Yo soñé con esto. Yo tenía en mi mente esta visión desde chamaco, que el ritmo era cultural y un estilo de vida», indicó Daddy Yankee, autodenominado como «El máximo líder» del reguetón.
«Me encontré con tantos obstáculos en la vida, que fue lo que me motivó por tantas puertas que me cerraron. Siempre fui un chamaco que nunca se dejó, siempre iba pa’ lante, con el botón siempre en ‘drive’ (adelante)», sostuvo.
Ante todos esos obstáculos, afirmó que «quería demostrarle a todas esas personas lo que era el género, el reguetón y el potencial» del ritmo musical, actualmente el de mayor apoyo en el mundo, de acuerdo con las plataformas musicales.
«Al sol de hoy, estoy viendo estas cosas y me llena de sentimiento y orgullo. Es una satisfacción personal de lo que se ha convertido a nivel mundial», resaltó Daddy Yankee.
«Al vivirlo desde cero, sin nada establecido y crear lo que no se había creado, eso es bien grande para mí», abundó Daddy Yankee, testigo de la transición de la música desde grabarse en casetes en los 90, luego en discos compactos hasta las aplicaciones musicales.
Daddy Yankee, el máximo líder desde el principio
Para el tiempo en que Daddy Yankee arrancó su carrera, no existían plataformas musicales, herramienta que los artistas noveles urbanos han aprovechado para descargar sus canciones y lograr «monetizar» u obtener dinero de las mismas.
Igualmente, Daddy Yankee dice ser el creador de la palabra reguetón, la cual incluyó en una de las versiones del productor musical puertorriqueño DJ Playero, con quien el reconocido intérprete urbano arrancó su carrera musical en el residencial público (barriada popular) Villa Kennedy en Santurce (San Juan).
Y por estar desde los inicios del reguetón al momento, en los que ha recorrido tres décadas manteniéndose vigente y entre uno de los más escuchados artistas urbanos, Daddy Yankee es considerado el «GOAT» (El mejor de todos los tiempos en inglés).
«He estado desde cero, desde que no existía nada. Darle el nombre y hacerlo viral hasta ponerle el sello con un tema como ‘Despacito’, y en los momentos más épicos y más importantes para darle el nombre a una cultura, Daddy Yankee ha estado ahí», resaltó.
El tema «Despacito», interpretado por Daddy Yankee y Luis Fonsi, cuenta con un video musical que en un momento dado se convirtió en el más escuchado en YouTube, destacando al género urbano como el de mayor respaldo en el mundo.
Trabajó «día tras día» en el nuevo disco
Según contó Daddy Yankee, estuvo un año «día tras día» trabajando en el disco Legendaddy, el cual afirmó a Efe es el «mejor» que ha hecho aparte de otros solitarios suyos como El Cartel, El Cartel: The Big Boss, Barrio Fino, Prestige, entre otros.
«El álbum define todo en un álbum lo que es Daddy Yankee y mi sonido a través de todos los años. Es por eso, que a la gente le ha impactado tanto, porque tiene de todos los estilos que me han conocido», destacó.
«Quería tocar todas esas bases que han dado influencia a nuestro género», abundó Daddy Yankee, quien aceptó que pese a que lanzó su último disco, aún cuenta con temas grabados, mientras en agosto se prepara para finiquitar su próxima gira mundial.

According to Daddy Yankee, he spent a year “day after day” working on the album “Legendaddy”, which he told Efe is the “best” he has done apart from his other soloists such as “El Cartel”, “El Cartel: The Big Boss”, “Barrio Fino”, “Prestige”, among others.
“The album defines everything on an album that is Daddy Yankee and my sound through all the years. That is why it has impacted people so much, because he has all the styles that have known me, ”he highlighted.
