A pesar de las polémicas por su construcción entre ambientalistas y activistas, el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) aseguró que el Tren Maya, una de sus obras insignia, estará en funcionamiento en diciembre de 2023.

Este sábado 2 de abril, durante una gira de trabajo privada, el mandatario federal arribó a Chetumal, procedente de Calakmul, Campeche, para dar el banderazo de salida de construcción del tramo 5 Cancún-Tulum, tramo 6 Tulum-Bacalar y tramo 7 Bacalar-Escárcega.

Así como la supervisión del personal, la maquinaria y del equipo que se utilizará en la construcción de los tramos y del nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional de Tulum, que se localizará en la zona limítrofe entre la ciudad y el municipio de Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

A su llegada a Quintana Roo, el jefe del Ejecutivo dio breves detalles de su gira de trabajo a medios locales, no obstante, señaló que no podía dar más información por la veda de Revocación de Mandato del próximo 10 de abril.

“¿Cuándo va a dar el banderazo, señor, de la inauguración? ¿De los tramos 5, 6 y 7?”, cuestionaron medios locales. A lo que el mandatario respondió: “Ya inició, pero no puedo informarles más porque estamos en veda”.

Asimismo, ante las críticas de ambientalistas y activistas por la obra, el presidente descartó reunirse con expertos de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), para tratar el tema de la construcción del Tren Maya.

Pidió, además, que quienes se han manifestado en contra de una de las obras prioritarias de su administración hablen con los integrantes de las comunidades que están cerca de la construcción.

Poco después, el presidente López Obrador llegó a la Expo Feria del Sur, en Chetumal, donde dio el banderazo de salida de los tramos. En el evento, reiteró que la obra estará concluida a finales del 2023 y no será detenida.

“Va estar en diciembre del año próximo (…) No, no (se detendrá), ya se instalaron los campamentos para que los (militares) que construyeron el Aeropuerto Felipe Ángeles construyan este tramo”
Cabe señalar que el pasado 31 de marzo, tras la campaña promovida por famosos contra el Tren Maya, el presidente López Obrador afirmó que la mayoría de la población, principalmente de la región sureste, está a favor de la obra.

Durante su conferencia de prensa matutina desde Palacio Nacional y a través de sus redes sociales, el mandatario federal presentó un video en el que ejidatarios del Ejido Jacinto Pat en Tulum, Quintana Roo, se manifiestan a favor de la obra y aseguran que no dañará los cenotes de la zona.

En su testimonio confirman que dieron su aprobación tras el proceso de diálogo y mesas de trabajo con las autoridades federales durante dos meses.

“Miren la defensa de la gente al Tren Maya. Me llena de orgullo saber que no queremos y compartimos los mismos sentimientos. Somos hermanos”, expresó en su momento el jefe del Ejecutivo.

Sostuvo que, además del apoyo de los habitantes de la zona, “se tienen todos los permisos de impacto ambiental y no sólo son los permisos, también es una convicción. Nosotros no vamos a destruir la selva, no somos iguales. (…) Yo me crie en el campo; yo sé lo que significa proteger la naturaleza”.

AMLO reiteró que en toda la ruta se están cultivando 200 mil hectáreas de árboles y a través del programa Sembrando Vida se invierten mil 500 millones de dólares al año en la reforestación del país con árboles frutales y maderables.

Despite the controversies over its construction among environmentalists and activists, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) assured that the Maya Train, one of his flagship works, will be operational in December 2023.

This Saturday, April 2, during a private work tour, the federal president arrived in Chetumal, from Calakmul, Campeche, to give the starting flag for the construction of section 5 Cancún-Tulum, section 6 Tulum-Bacalar and section 7 Bacalar-Escárcega.

As well as supervising the personnel, machinery and equipment that will be used in the construction of the sections and the new Tulum International Airport, which will be located in the border area between the city and the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

Upon his arrival in Quintana Roo, the Chief Executive gave brief details of his work tour to local media, however, he said he could not give more information due to the ban on Mandate Revocation on April 10.
“When are you going to give the flag, sir, of the inauguration? Of stretches 5, 6 and 7?” , questioned local media. To which the president replied: “It has already started, but I cannot inform you any more because we are closed”.

In addition, given criticism by environmentalists and activists for the work, the president ruled out meeting with experts from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), to discuss the issue of the construction of the Maya Train.

Shortly after, President López Obrador arrived at the Expo Feria del Sur, in Chetumal, where he gave the starting flag of the stages. At the event, he reiterated that the work will be completed by the end of 2023 and will not be stopped.

It should be noted that on March 31, after the campaign promoted by celebrities against the Mayan Train, President López Obrador affirmed that the majority of the population, mainly in the southeast region, is in favor of the work.

During his morning press conference from the National Palace and through his social networks, the federal president presented a video in which ejido jidatarios from Ejido Jacinto Pat in Tulum, Quintana Roo, demonstrate in favor of the work and assure that it will not damage the cenotes in the area.

In their testimony they confirm that they gave their approval after the process of dialogue and work tables with the federal authorities for two months.

“Look at the people’s defense of the Mayan Train. It fills me with pride to know that we don’t want and we share the same feelings. We are brothers”, said the chief executive at the time.

He said that, in addition to the support of the inhabitants of the area, “you have all the environmental impact permits and they are not only the permits, it is also a conviction. We are not going to destroy the forest, we are not the same. (…) I grew up in the countryside; I know what it means to protect nature”.

AMLO reiterated that 200,000 hectares of trees are being cultivated along the route and through the Sembrando Vida program $1.5 billion a year is invested in reforesting the country with fruit and timber trees.
