Ex predicador culpable de delitos sexuales contra menores / Former preacher guilty of sex crimes against minors

TULSA, OK – Un hombre de Vinita se declaró culpable el pasado viernes 1ro de abril de seducir a cinco menores cuyas edades oscilaban entre los 7 y los 16 años cuando se produjeron los abusos, anunció el fiscal federal Clint Johnson.

Roy Edward Williams, de 63 años, se declaró culpable de cinco cargos de coerción y seducción de un menor en Indian Country y de posesión de pornografía infantil.

“Roy Williams se aprovechó de cinco niños durante 16 años. Violó su inocencia, su sensación de seguridad y su confianza”, dijo Johnson. “En varios de estos incidentes, algunos adultos no denunciaron los abusos. Cuando los niños revelan que han sido víctimas de abusos sexuales, los adultos deben escuchar y actuar en su favor. Los niños no deberían tener que ocultar los abusos que han sufrido ni sentirse avergonzados por las atroces acciones de un depredador”.

Williams cometió los delitos sexuales a partir de noviembre de 2002 o alrededor de esa fecha y hasta diciembre de 2018. Según documentos judiciales, Williams también tomó fotografías sexualmente explícitas de varias de las víctimas, pagó u ofreció algo de valor a varias víctimas inmediatamente después del abuso sexual y amenazó a varias de las víctimas para evitar que denunciaran el abuso a otras personas. El acusado fue encontrado además en posesión de pornografía infantil el 24 de junio de 2019. Durante el período del abuso descrito, Williams fue miembro y predicador en Bunker Hill Baptist en Vinita.

Este caso fue presentado como parte del proyecto Infancia Segura, una iniciativa nacional para combatir la epidemia de explotación y abuso sexual infantil, lanzada en mayo de 2006 por el departamento de justicia. Former preacher guilty of sex crimes against minors

TULSA, OK — A Vinita man pleaded guilty Friday to enticing five minors whose ages ranged from 7 to 16 years old when the abuse occurred, announced U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.

Roy Edward Williams, 63, pleaded guilty to five counts of coercion and enticement of a minor in Indian Country and to possession of child pornography.

“Roy Williams preyed upon five children over the course of 16 years. He violated their innocence, sense of safety, and trust,” Johnson. “In several of these incidents, some adults failed to report the abuse. When children disclose they’ve been victims of sexual abuse, adults need to listen and act on their behalf. Children should not have to hide the abuse they’ve endured nor feel ashamed for the appalling actions of a predator.”

Williams committed the sex crimes starting on or around November 2002 and as late as December 2018. According to court documents, Williams also took sexually explicit photographs of several of the victims, paid or offered something of value to several victims immediately following the sexual abuse, and threatened several victims to prevent them from reporting the abuse to others. The defendant was further found in possession of child pornography on June 24, 2019. During the period of the described abuse, Williams was a member and preacher at Bunker Hill Baptist in Vinita.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
