Adolescente de Bartlesville se declara culpable del asesinato de un niño / Bartlesville teenager pleads guilty to murder of toddler

TULSA, OK – Un joven de 17 años que abusó de un niño pequeño, causándole la muerte, se declaró culpable el lunes en un tribunal federal, anunció el fiscal federal Clint Johnson.

Terry Nathan Hindman, de Bartlesville, se declaró culpable de asesinato en segundo grado.

“El abuso que este pequeño niño sufrió a manos de Terry Hindman es horrible y su muerte una tragedia”, dijo Johnson. “La oficina del fiscal general se toma en serio nuestro cargo de proteger a los niños de Oklahoma y llevará ante la justicia a quienes les hacen daño”.

En un acuerdo de culpabilidad, Hindman admitió que el 29 de septiembre de 2021 estaba cuidando al niño de 23 meses cuando lo lanzó intencionadamente con fuerza excesiva a través de la habitación hacia un sofá. La cabeza del niño golpeó la pared directamente detrás del sofá y luego aterrizó en una mesa golpeando su cabeza de nuevo. Hindman dijo que el niño tropezó y parecía aturdido, no buscó atención médica y no le dijo a nadie sobre el incidente, incluyendo a los médicos cuando el niño fue llevado al hospital más tarde ese día.

El 2 de octubre de 2021, Hindman volvió a vigilar al niño cuando éste empezó a tener problemas médicos y parecía tener problemas para respirar. Hindman no buscó atención médica. La madre del niño llamó más tarde a una ambulancia y el niño fue trasladado al hospital. Durante la segunda visita al hospital, Hindman tampoco informó a nadie de la lesión del 29 de septiembre. El niño fue trasladado a la ciudad de Oklahoma y murió el 7 de octubre de 2021 por un traumatismo por objeto contundente, resultado del abuso ocurrido el 29 de septiembre.

Hindman fue acusado como adulto por el crimen.

Bartlesville teenager pleads guilty to murder of toddler

TULSA, OK — A 17-year-old who abused a toddler, causing the child’s death, pleaded guilty Monday in federal court, announced U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.

Terry Nathan Hindman, of Bartlesville, pleaded guilty to second degree murder.

“The abuse this young child endured at the hands Terry Hindman is horrific and his death a tragedy,” said Johnson. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office takes seriously our charge to protect Oklahoma’s children and will bring to justice those who harm them.”

In a plea agreement, Hindman admitted that on Sept. 29, 2021, he was caring for a 23-month-old male child when he intentionally threw the young child across the room toward a couch with excessive force. The child’s head hit the wall directly behind the couch then he landed on a table in front of the couch striking his head again. Hindman said the child then stumbled and seemed dazed. Hindman failed to seek medical attention and did not tell anyone about the incident, including doctors when the child was taken to the hospital later that day.

On Oct. 2, 2021, Hindman was watching the child again when the child began having medical problems and appeared to have trouble breathing. Hindman did not seek medical care. The child’s mother later called an ambulance, and the child was transported to the hospital. During the second hospital visit, Hindman again failed to tell anyone about the Sept. 29 injury. The child was transferred to Oklahoma City and died on Oct. 7, 2021, from blunt force trauma, which was a result of the abuse that occurred on Sept. 29.

Hindman was charged as an adult for the crime.
