Joaquin Phoenix volverá a interpretar al Joker en una secuela que dirigirá Todd Phillips, quien confirmó el proyecto este martes al subir a su perfil de Instagram una fotografía del guion.

En otra instantánea compartida por el cineasta aparece Phoenix, ganador del Oscar por dar vida al conocido villano, leyendo ese mismo libreto, cuyo título provisional es: Joker: Folie à Deux.

Tal es el misterio en torno a esta cinta, que el estudio Warner Bros., responsable de la primera película, se limitó a compartir las fotografías en su perfil de Twitter, pero evitó hacer cualquier comentario sobre el proyecto o la posible fecha de estreno.

Aunque ni el actor ni el director profundizaron en la publicación, el título del guion deja intuir que la secuela continuará explorando los trastornos mentales de su protagonista.

Folie à Deux (en español, Locura de dos) es un trastorno en el que dos o más personas comparten síntomas psiquiátricos, habitualmente delirios. Así está definido en la Clasificación Internacional de Enfermedades CIE-10.

Algunos seguidores de la franquicia DC Comics comenzaron a especular que la secuela del Joker de Phoenix sumará al personaje de Harley Quinn. En los comics ella es la eterna compañera del Joker, a la que Margot Robbie ha dado vida en la gran pantalla.

La primera entrega de Joker, estrenada en 2019, resultó un rotundo éxito de taquilla. La cinta recaudó más de 1.000 millones de dólares en todo el mundo. Además, logró 12 nominaciones a los Oscar, algo muy poco habitual para una película basada en un cómic.

Now, Phillips confirmed the sequel in an Instagram post. In another post shared by the filmmaker, Phoenix, who won an Oscar for playing the notorious villain, is seen reading from the script, tentatively titled ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’.

Such is the mystery surrounding the film that Warner Bros., the studio behind the first film, only shared the photos on its Twitter profile, but avoided commenting any further on the project or hinting at a possible release date.

What is the plot of the Joker sequel?

Although neither the actor nor the director elaborated on the release, the title of the script suggests that the sequel will continue to explore the mental disorders of its protagonist.

Folie a Deux is a disorder in which two or more people share psychiatric symptoms, usually delusions, as defined in the International Classification of Diseases ICD-10.

Some fans of the DC Comics franchise have begun to speculate that the new film may add the character of Harley Quinn, the Joker’s longtime comic book sidekick, whom Margot Robbie has brought to life on the big screen.

The first instalment of Joker, released in 2019, was a resounding box-office success that grossed more than one billion dollars worldwide and earned 12 Oscar nominations.
