TULSA, OK — La ciudad de Tulsa celebró su segunda ceremonia anual de ciudadanía infantil la semana pasada. Organizada por Gathering Place, el reconocimiento de la ciudadanía para los menores de 18 años dio la bienvenida a 77 niños de todo el mundo como nuevos ciudadanos estadounidenses en Tulsa.
“¡Nuestra segunda ceremonia anual de ciudadanía infantil!” publicó el alcalde G.T. Bynum en su página oficial de Facebook. “Al igual que uno de los días más edificantes del año. 77 de mis nuevos compatriotas de 24 países van a hacer de Tulsa una ciudad mejor en los próximos años”.
Celebrada una semana antes de que la nación celebre su cumpleaños, esta fue la segunda ceremonia de este tipo exclusivamente para niños que preside el alcalde. Ambos actos contaron con una nutrida asistencia de familiares y amigos de los jóvenes ciudadanos, así como de numerosos líderes de la comunidad y personas con buenos deseos del público en general.
“Gracias a nuestro equipo del ayuntamiento, al Gathering Place, al DiscoveryLab y a todos los que acudieron a mostrar su amor y emoción por estos niños”, dijo Bynum. “¡Y gracias a cada uno de estos jóvenes estadounidenses que demuestran que Tulsa, Oklahoma y Estados Unidos siguen siendo faros de libertad y oportunidades para la gente de todo el mundo!”. 77 children become new US Citizens
TULSA, OK — The City of Tulsa held its second annual children’s citizenship ceremony last week. Hosted by Gathering Place, the recognition of citizenship for those under 18 welcomed 77 kids from around the world as Tulsa’s newest US Citizens.
“Our second annual children’s citizenship ceremony!” Mayor G.T. Bynum posted on his official Facebook page. “AKA one of the most uplifting days of the year. 77 of my newest fellow Americans from 24 countries are going to make Tulsa a better city in the years ahead.”
Held the week before the nation celebrates its birthday, this was the second such ceremony exclusively for children over which the mayor has presided. Both events were well attended by family and friends of the young citizens, as well as numerous community leaders and well wishers from the general public.
“Thank you to our team at the City, the Gathering Place, DiscoveryLab, and everyone else who turned out to show their love and excitement for these kids,” Bynum said. “And thank you to each of these young Americans who prove that Tulsa and Oklahoma and the United States remain beacons of freedom and opportunity for people all around the world!” (La Semana)
