Reabren el puente de Crow Creek / Crow Creek Bridge reopens to traffic

TULSA, OK — La construcción del nuevo puente sobre Crow Creek en 3200 S. Peoria Ave. ha terminado y la carretera se ha reabierto al tráfico. El alcalde G.T. Bynum y el concejal del Distrito 9 Jayme Fowler celebraron la apertura del puente en una conferencia de prensa el 11 de julio. 

“El tráfico de Brookside vuelve a fluir libremente, ahora que se ha reabierto la avenida Peoria y podemos pasar por el nuevo puente de Crow Creek, además tenemos un puente mucho mejor para el flujo de aguas pluviales de Crow Creek”, dijo Bynum.

El nuevo puente está construido con una mayor capacidad de aguas pluviales para hacer frente a la tormenta de 100 años o un 1 por ciento de probabilidad de una inundación en un año determinado. Sustituye al antiguo puente de 1938, que se había vuelto estructuralmente deficiente y funcionalmente obsoleto. 

El cierre temporal de la avenida Peoria durante el proyecto ha causado algunas molestias, pero el cierre de la carretera ha mantenido una zona de trabajo segura. Eliminó los peligros potenciales de que los trabajadores y el tráfico estuvieran cerca uno del otro.

El cierre de la carretera también permitió reducir el precio en 1,3 millones de dólares, lo que ayudó a que el proyecto del puente de Crow Creek se mantuviera dentro de su presupuesto. De lo contrario, la adición de consideraciones de seguridad para el público que viaja habría creado aumentos de precios, conflictos de puesta en escena del contratista y desafíos de secuenciación del proyecto. 

Cerrar la carretera también permitió ahorrar más de dos meses de tiempo de construcción. El cierre contó con el apoyo de las empresas locales de Brookside.

La ciudad de Tulsa ha contratado a Tri-Star Construction para este proyecto de $2,275,558, financiado por el impuesto de ventas Improve Our Tulsa.

Crow Creek Bridge reopens to traffic

TULSA, OK — Construction of a new bridge over Crow Creek at 3200 S. Peoria Ave. is complete and the road has reopened to traffic. Mayor G.T. Bynum and District 9 City Councilor Jayme Fowler celebrated the bridge opening at a news conference on July 11th. 

“Brookside traffic is flowing freely again, now that Peoria Avenue has reopened, and we can drive over the new Crow Creek Bridge,” Bynum said. “Along with traffic being able to pass through once again, we have a much better bridge for the stormwater flow of Crow Creek.”

The new bridge is built with a larger stormwater capacity to handle the 100-year storm or a 1 percent chance of a flood in any given year. It replaced the old 1938 bridge which had become structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. 

The temporary closure of Peoria Avenue during the project has caused some inconvenience but closing the road has maintained a safe work zone. The road closure eliminated potential hazards of workers and traffic being near each other. 

Closing the road also allowed for a $1.3 million price reduction, which helped the Crow Creek bridge project stay within its budget. Otherwise, the addition of safety considerations for the traveling public would have created price increases, contractor staging conflicts, and project sequencing challenges. 

Closing the road also saved over two months of construction time. The closure was discussed with local businesses in Brookside with their support.

The City of Tulsa has contracted with Tri-Star Construction for this $2,275,558 project, funded by the Improve Our Tulsa sales tax.
