El mexicano había partido del 11vo lugar en el circuito de Hungaroring y culminó en el quinto lugar; su compañero, Max Verstappen, se llevó la corona del GP
El mexicano, Sergio Checo Pérez (Red Bull), culminó en quinto lugar del Gran Premio (GP) de Hungría de la Fórmula 1, en donde había largado desde la 11va posición.
Es decir, el oriundo de Jalisco remontó seis posiciones en las primeras vueltas de la contienda. Sin embargo, poco después de la mitad, se enfrentó a una distancia entre siete a 20 segundos del piloto que llevaba por delante (el cual fluctuó entre la dupla de Mercedes Benz, Lewis Hamilton y George Russell, o el Ferrari, Charles Leclerc).
Aunque el Red Bull logró acortar las distancias, no pudo continuar remontando las posiciones y, por esa razón, no logró entrar al podio de la última carrera antes del periodo de receso vacacional.
En tanto, su compañero, Max Verstappen, quien largó desde la décima posición, registró una histórica remontada y logró coronarse como ganador en el circuito de Hungaroring. Seguido del neerlandés, se colocaron los Mercedes, Hamilton y Russell, en el segundo y tercer lugar, respectivamente.
Cabe señalar que, pese al resultado de este domingo, Sergio Pérez aún mantiene el tercer puesto del campeonato de pilotos, alejado de Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), quien conserva el segundo, por cinco puntos.
