CHICKASHA, Okla. — A fire that destroyed a Chickasha hand sanitizer factory and led to a $6.6 million fine has been determined to have been intentionally set.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal confirmed that the Aug. 7 fire was an incendiary fire. The investigation will now attempt to determine who set the fire and why.
The fire marshal made the determination as to the fire’s cause this week.
The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality fined Bordwine Development millions for improperly storing hazardous waste.
No charges have been filed, and the case remains under investigation.
Officials ask anyone with Bordwine hand sanitizer, soap or sunscreen to give it to the Chickasha Fire Department.
