La cantante aseguró que las películas del cineasta mexicano la ayudaron a crear un “cuento de hadas” y desarrollar nuevas formas de narrativa en su música

En medio del éxito del cortometraje de Taylor Swift, la cantante sacó a relucir que es una gran admiradora de Guillermo del Toro, pues varias de sus películas le han servido para inspirarse y crear su propio “mundo de hadas” y pensar en nuevas narrativas en la música y el cine, reveló en el Festival de Cine de Toronto.

Durante la presentación de All Too Well el pasado 9 de septiembre dentro del Festival de Cine de Toronto, Taylor Swift compartió con el público cómo son sus procesos creativos, ya sea para crear personajes o hacer música, fue por ello que habló de la gran influencia que Guillermo del Toro ha tenido a lo largo de su carrera.

Cuando comenzó a hablar las películas en las que se inspiró para hacer su propio proyecto fue que saltó el nombre del tapatío, pues comentó que poco antes de que trabajara en la creación de este cortometraje se sintió envuelta por las películas de Del Toro. En 2020, mientras que se tuvo que enfrentar al encierro por la pandemia de covid-19, vio dos largometrajes de Guillermo, las cuales hicieron que “todo mi mundo” cambiara.

“Recuerdo haber visto dos películas seguidas de Guillermo del Toro, El espinazo del diabloy El laberinto del fauno, y todo mi mundo se convirtió en un cuento de hadas y bosque e increíbles criaturas. Estaba tan deslumbrada por estas películas”

Taylor agregó que las cintas de Guillermo del Toro se convirtieron en un gran punto de inspiración, inclusive mencionó que La forma del agua es una de sus películas favoritas de todos los tiempos, sólo que esta la había visto desde años atrás, mientras que El espinazo del diablo y El laberinto del fauno las vio recientemente, algo que la hacía sentir avergonzada, según mencionó.

No es la primera vez que Taylor Swift menciona que los filmes del director de Pinocho le han servido para inspirarse para hacer música y tener en mente algún concepto, tal fue el caso de su álbum Folklore, el cual realizó en medio de la pandemia.

En diciembre de 2020 compartió para la entrevista Entertainment Weekly que fue gracias a ciertas películas que se decidió a comenzar su proceso creativo, pues de lo contrario, no hubiera pensando en lanzar un disco en una época tan difícil.

“Al principio de la cuarentena, comencé a ver muchas películas. Veíamos una película diferente cada noche. Me avergüenza decir que no había visto El Laberinto del fauno antes. Una noche la vi, luego fue L.A. Confidential, después Rear Window, y Jane Eyre”, estas últimas de Curtis Hanson, Alfred Hitchcock y Cary Fukunaga, respectivamente.

Según mencionó en ese entonces, fueron estas cintas las que le hicieron darse cuenta de que quizás no había probado algunos conceptos pese a que le gustaban, por ello es que probó suerte e inició a pensar en cómo crear diferentes tramas, lo que la llevó a que este álbum tuviera un punto más cinematográfico.

“Siento que consumir el arte y la narración de otras personas abrió este portal en mi imaginación y me hizo pensar: ‘Bueno, ¿por qué nunca he hecho esto antes? ¿Por qué nunca he creado personajes e historias que se cruzan? ¿Alguna vez me liberé para hacer eso desde un punto de vista narrativo?”, dijo la intérprete de Bad Blood.
