Inaugurado el Celebration Park en el oeste de Tulsa / Celebration Park in West Tulsa is now open

TULSA, OK — El alcalde G.T. Bynum, la jefa de cultura y directora de parques Anna America, y la Tulsa Housing Authority (THA) celebraron la semana pasada un corte de cinta para inaugurar oficialmente el Celebration Park en el 1110 W. 20th Street. 

Con esta adición, el Celebration Park de cinco acres será un componente clave del Plan de la Pequeña Área de Eugene Field y de la comunidad de River West. 

El proyecto, de 2,4 millones de dólares, está financiado en parte por una subvención federal para la implantación de Choice Neighborhoods y fondos de Improve our Tulsa 1 y 2.  

Celebration Park cuenta con dos fantásticos parques infantiles con temática de jardín, un área de juegos acuáticos, canchas deportivas de usos múltiples, un pabellón personalizado con mesas de pícnic y parrillas para barbacoa, un campo deportivo iluminado, áreas de juego abiertas con césped y bermas de tierra y césped artificial.  

“La remodelación del barrio de Eugene Field es una de las iniciativas de reurbanización más importantes emprendidas por la ciudad y la Autoridad de la Vivienda de Tulsa. Me gustaría dar las gracias a THA por su continua colaboración y esfuerzo en la creación de más oportunidades de vivienda para los Tulsanos”, dijo Bynum. “Los parques infantiles son el latido del corazón de cualquier comunidad y crean un sentido de pertenencia y unión que hace que un barrio sea más fuerte”. 

El plan de transformación de Choice Neighborhoods Tulsa/River West incluye la construcción de hasta 450 apartamentos de ingresos mixtos, el recién renovado Celebration Park y amplias mejoras de las infraestructuras públicas y las aguas pluviales. El total del proyecto se estima en más de 180 millones de dólares, lo que representa la mayor inversión de Tulsa en vivienda asequible hasta la fecha.  

“Este parque será la piedra angular no sólo de la comunidad de River West, sino también de esta zona de nuestra ciudad”, declaró Aaron Darden, presidente y consejero delegado de Tulsa Housing Authority. “Los miembros de la comunidad de River West se merecen este nivel de inversión y me entusiasma que las familias puedan crear recuerdos aquí en los años venideros”.

Los estudiantes de la cercana escuela primaria Eugene Field ayudaron a los funcionarios de la ciudad a desvelar el nombre del parque.  

“Antes de la renovación, este parque era estéril y se conocía sobre todo como lugar de aparcamiento desbordado para eventos”, declaró Anna America, jefa de cultura y ocio y directora de parques. “La comunidad eligió el nombre ‘Celebración’ por su entusiasmo por lo que hemos construido aquí juntos. Celebration Park ayudará a continuar la revitalización y el crecimiento que estamos presenciando en esta zona, pero lo más importante para mí es que será un lugar para que estas familias y niños se reúnan, se mantengan activos y simplemente jueguen y se diviertan”. 

El proyecto de seis fases River West Choice Neighborhoods finalizará en 2024.

Celebration Park in West Tulsa is now open

TULSA, OK — Mayor G.T. Bynum, Chief of Culture and Parks Director Anna America, and the Tulsa Housing Authority (THA) held a ribbon cutting last week to officially open the Celebration Park at 1110 W. 20th Street. 

With this addition, the five-acre Celebration Park will be a key component of the Eugene Field Small Area Plan and the River West community.

The $2.4 million project is funded in part by a federal Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant, and funds from Improve our Tulsa 1 and 2.  

Celebration Park features two whimsical, garden-themed playgrounds, a splash pad, a multi-use sports courts, a custom pavilion with picnic tables and BBQ grills, a lighted sports field, open grassy play areas, and earthen and artificial turf berms.  

“The redevelopment of the Eugene Field neighborhood is one of the most significant redevelopment efforts that the City and the Tulsa Housing Authority have undertaken. I’d like to thank THA for their continued partnership and effort in creating more housing opportunities for Tulsans,” Bynum said. “Playgrounds are the heartbeat of any community and create a sense of belonging and togetherness that makes a neighborhood stronger.” 

The Choice Neighborhoods Tulsa/River West Transformation Plan includes the construction of up to 450 mixed-income apartments, the newly renovated Celebration Park, and extensive public infrastructure and storm water improvements. Project totals are estimated at more than $180 million, representing Tulsa’s largest investment in affordable housing to date.  

“This park will serve as a cornerstone not only of the River West community but of this area of our city,” said Aaron Darden, President, & CEO of Tulsa Housing Authority. “Members of the River West community deserve this level of investment and I’m excited that families will be able to create memories here for years to come.” 

Students from nearby Eugene Field Elementary School assisted city officials with unveiling the park’s name. 

“Before the renovation, this park was barren and mostly known as a place for overflow event parking,” said Anna America, Chief of Culture and Recreation and Parks Director. “The community chose the name ‘Celebration’ because of their excitement about what we’ve built here together. Celebration Park will help continue the revitalization and growth we are witnessing in this area, but more importantly to me, it will be a place for these families and children to come together, to be active, and to just play and have fun.”  

The six-phase River West Choice Neighborhoods project will be completed in 2024.
