CIUDAD DE MÉXICO, 19 de abril (Reuters) – Estados Unidos y México han informado a la FIFA que presentarán una oferta para ser coanfitrión de la Copa Mundial Femenina de 2027, dijeron el miércoles las federaciones de los países.

El fútbol de EE. UU. (USSF) y la federación de fútbol de México (FMF) tienen hasta el 19 de mayo para presentar formalmente su “Acuerdo de licitación”.

Los Estados Unidos fueron previamente anfitriones de la Copa Mundial Femenina en 1999, cuando ganaron el segundo de sus cuatro títulos récord, y en 2003. México no ha sido anfitrión del torneo antes.

Australia y Nueva Zelanda serán coanfitriones de la edición 2023 del torneo.

“Estados Unidos siempre ha sido un líder mundial en el juego femenino, y tendríamos el honor de ser coanfitriones del principal evento mundial para el fútbol femenino junto con México”, dijo la presidenta de la USSF, Cindy Parlow Cone.

El presidente de la FMF, Yon De Luisa, añadió: “El fútbol femenino en México ha experimentado un crecimiento sostenido en los últimos cinco años y su desarrollo es una de las prioridades estratégicas de la FMF”.

México, Estados Unidos y Canadá serán coanfitriones de la Copa Mundial masculina en 2026.

US and Mexico to submit bid to co-host 2027 Women’s World Cup

MEXICO CITY, April 19 (Reuters) – The United States and Mexico have informed FIFA they will submit a bid to co-host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, the countries’ federations said on Wednesday.

US Soccer (USSF) and Mexico’s football federation (FMF) have until May 19 to formally submit their ‘Bidding Agreement’.

The United States previously hosted the Women’s World Cup in 1999, when they won the second of their record four titles, and in 2003. Mexico has not hosted the tournament before.

Australia and New Zealand will co-host the 2023 edition of the tournament.

“The United States has always been a global leader for the women’s game, and we would be honoured to co-host the world’s premier event for women’s soccer along with Mexico,” said USSF President Cindy Parlow Cone.

FMF President Yon De Luisa added: “Women’s football in Mexico has experienced sustained growth over the last five years and its development is one of the strategic priorities of the FMF.”

Mexico, the U.S. and Canada will co-host the men’s World Cup in 2026.
