Meryl Streep gana el Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Artes

OVIEDO.- La actriz estadounidense Meryl Streep, la intérprete más veces nominada a los Óscar y a los Globo de Oro de la historia, fue distinguida este miércoles con el Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Artes 2023.

La emblemática y polifacética actriz, también reconocida por su activismo social, humanitario, feminista y ambientalista, ha sido galardonada con tres Premios Óscar y cuenta con nueve Globos de Oro, además de dos Bafta de la Academia Británica.

Considerada como la gran dama de Hollywood, Streep (1949, Basking Ridge, New Jersey) inició su carrera cinematográfica en los años setenta y ha representado en sus más de sesenta películas algunos de los personajes más recordados de la historia del séptimo arte.

Los tres Premios Óscar que consiguió -de un total de 21 nominaciones- fueron por «Kramer contra Kramer» (1979), «La decisión de Sophie» (1982) y «La dama de hierro» (2011) y, asimismo, cuenta con nueve Globos de Oro, de un total de 32 nominaciones, además de dos Bafta de la Academia Británica.

El jurado del Premio Princesa de las Artes ensalzó «la honestidad y la responsabilidad» de la actriz a la hora de elegir sus trabajos «al servicio de narrativas inspiradoras y ejemplarizantes», y «por dignificar el arte de la interpretación y conseguir que la ética y la coherencia trasciendan a través de su trabajo, con la virtud de subrayar que los seres humanos, y concretamente las mujeres, deben latir y destacar a partir de su singularidad, de su diferencia».

OVIEDO.- American actress Meryl Streep, the most often nominated actress for the Oscars and the Golden Globes in history, was honored this Wednesday with the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts 2023.

The emblematic and multifaceted actress, also recognized for her social, humanitarian, feminist and environmental activism, has been awarded three Oscars and has nine Golden Globes, in addition to two British Academy Bafta.

Considered the great lady of Hollywood, Streep (1949, Basking Ridge, New Jersey) began her film career in the seventies and has represented in her more than sixty films some of the most remembered characters in the history of the seventh art.

The three Oscars he won – out of a total of 21 nominations – were for “Kramer v. Kramer” (1979), “Sophie’s Decision” (1982) and “The Iron Lady” (2011) and, likewise, he has nine Golden Globes, out of a total of 32 nominations, in addition to two Bafta from the British Academy.

The jury of the Princess of the Arts Prize praised “the honesty and responsibility” of the actress when choosing her works “at the service of inspiring and exemplary narratives,” and “for dignifying the art of interpretation and getting ethics and coherence transcend through her work, with the virtue of emphasizing that human beings, and specifically women, must beat and stand out from their uniqueness.
