LeBron James, clave en la clasificación este viernes de Los Angeles Lakers para las semifinales del Oeste (4-2 contra los Memphis Grizzlies), destacó que el equipo de púrpura y oro afrontó este sexto encuentro como si fuera un séptimo partido y se jugaran todo a cara o cruz.

«Definitivamente nuestra mentalidad era de séptimo partido. Entendimos que teníamos una oportunidad de jugar delante de nuestros fans y queríamos intentar terminarlo hoy», aseguró en rueda de prensa.

«Salimos con disposición, con mentalidad de ‘siguiente jugada’. Incluso cuando cometimos errores, nos los sacudimos rápido y nos movimos a la siguiente jugada», añadió.

Los Lakers despedazaron este viernes a los Grizzlies (125-85), se clasificaron para las semifinales del Oeste (4-2) y, tras un comienzo de temporada que apuntaba a un fracaso estrepitoso, son ahora un equipo renacido y ferozmente competitivo que se ha ganado el derecho a soñar en los playoff de la NBA.

D’Angelo Russell (31 puntos con un apabullante 12 de 17 en tiros y 5 e 9 en triples), Anthony Davis (16 puntos, 14 rebotes y 5 tapones) y LeBron (22 puntos con 9 de 13 en intentos a canasta) lideraron este viernes a unos Lakers que ya ganaban de 36 puntos en el tercer cuarto.

«Creo que desde el principio del partido, simplemente estuvimos fijados en nuestro plan de juego hasta los segundos finales del encuentro», dijo LeBron.

La estrella de los Lakers también destacó la gran aportación defensiva de Davis en esta serie.

«Él fue AD (iniciales de Anthony Davis). La gente del baloncesto sabe, la competición lo sabe, lo dominante que es AD defensivamente. Él fue AD. Fue espectacular», aseguró.
