Colombia logró su esperada clasificación a octavos de final del Mundial Femenino en el primer lugar del Grupo H pese a una sorpresiva derrota 1-0 ante la debutante selección de Marruecos. Este equipo también avanzó a la segunda ronda.

Ese resultado, sumado al empate de Alemania con Corea del Sur, selló la eliminación del conjunto europeo, uno de los favoritos a levantar la copa en el Mundial de Australia y Nueva Zelanda.

En octavos de final del Mundial Femenino, Colombia se medirá a Jamaica y Marruecos chocará contra Francia, ambos partidos el próximo martes 8 de agosto.

Ahnisa Lahmari anotó el gol marroquí en el cierre del primer tiempo al conectar un penal rechazado por la portera colombiana Catalina Pérez.

Las marroquíes estallaron en júbilo con abrazos y lágrimas cuando, terminado su partido, se enteraron del empate de Alemania en Brisbane.

Poco después, Daniela Arias derribó a Jraidi dentro del área y concedió un penal que cobró la capitana Ghizlane Chebbak. La arquera Pérez rechazó y Lahmari llegó a tiempo para convertir el gol.

Caicedo se pasó a la banda izquierda en el segundo tiempo, un cambio que realizó el equipo colombiano los últimos partidos en busca de espacio para conducir los ataques de su equipo.

Pero las marroquíes no estaban dispuestas a ceder un milímetro de espacio en su muro defensivo.
