Netflix dio avances el jueves de algunos de los proyectos de animación que llegarán a su plataforma este año y el que viene y entre los que se encuentran The Twits, un filme que une el talento de Natalie Portman y Emilia Clarke, o el regreso de Wallace y Gromit.

Las actrices formarán parte de la película de Phil Johnston que se estrenará en 2025 y que está basada en la novela del escritor británico Roald Dahl, que seguía la vida de una pareja de personas «desagradables, malas y malolientes».

«¿Saben a quién interpreto? a una chinche en la barba del Sr. Twit. Literalmente soy un parásito», dijo Clarke en un video transmitido en un evento para prensa.

«Yo soy la mamá de un Muggle-Wump. ¿Qué es un Muggle-Wump? Tu suposición es tan buena como la mía…», dijo sarcásticamente Portman sobre su personaje, que es un mono en el universo creado por Dahl.

Por su parte, los directores Nick Park y Merlin Crossingham (Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death) se reencuentran para revivir la historia «de uno de los pingüinos más temibles de la historia» en la nueva película Wallace & Gromit film – Vengeance Most Fowl.

«En el fondo, es una historia sobre la tecnología y lo maravillosa que puede llegar a ser, pero también sobre el peligro de que se interponga en nuestras relaciones», dijo Crossingham en la presentación.

Park anunció que hasta el momento tienen animado 70% de la película y el estreno está previsto para 2025.

La plataforma adelantó que se encuentra trabajando junto a Sony Pictures Animation en una serie de animación basada en la franquicia de Ghostbusters, aún sin fecha tentativa de estreno, bajo la producción ejecutiva de Jason Reitman y Gil Kenan.

Además, Plankton, el malvado personaje de Bob Esponja, tendrá una película en 2025, en la que una vez más llevará a cabo un plan para dominar el mundo.

Antes de eso, el filme Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, sobre las aventuras en Texas de Bob Esponja y Arenita, llegará exclusivamente a Netflix el 2 de agosto.

En octubre, la plataforma revivirá a Lara Croft, la popular arqueóloga ficticia de los videojuegos, en una serie titulada Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, y estrenará Twilight of the Gods, de Zack Snyder, cinco años después de que el proyecto se anunciara.

«Es una historia sobre el amor y la venganza, y nos lleva a través de este enorme y hermoso paisaje en busca de… bueno, tendrás que verlo», dijo en el encuentro el director de filmes como 300 o Wonder Woman.

Otros futuros estrenos de la plataforma son Terminator Zero, previsto para el 29 de agosto, la segunda temporada de Arcane para noviembre, la última temporada de Big Mouth y la película In Your Dreams, ambos agendados para 2025.
