En los últimos días, hemos sido testigos de un preocupante resurgimiento de ataques antisemitas en todo el mundo, como los ocurridos en Boulder, Colorado y en Washington, DC.

Desde grafitis ofensivos hasta actos de violencia letal contra judíos indefensos y profanación de sinagogas y cementerios, estas manifestaciones de odio no son incidentes aislados, sino síntomas de un problema más profundo que requiere nuestra atención y repudio inequívoco.

El antisemitismo no es un fenómeno nuevo. Ha envenenado a muchas sociedades durante siglos, y ha alimentado teorías conspirativas, exclusión social y violencia sistemática contra comunidades judías. 

Desde los pogromos en Europa del Este hasta el Holocausto, la historia nos ha mostrado las consecuencias devastadoras de permitir que este odio eche raíces. 

Y sin embargo, hoy vemos cómo resurgen esas mismas expresiones, en redes sociales, en manifestaciones callejeras y hasta en discursos políticos.

El antisemitismo, una de las formas más antiguas y perniciosas de prejuicio, no es simplemente un ataque a una comunidad específica; es un ataque a los cimientos mismos de una sociedad justa y democrática. 

Cuando el odio se dirige hacia un grupo, se abre una brecha por la que pueden colarse otras formas de intolerancia y discriminación, como lo prueban las expresiones contra la comunidad hispana y otras comunidades.

Permitir que el antisemitismo prospere es permitir que la semilla de la división y la injusticia echen raíces.

Es crucial entender que la lucha contra el antisemitismo es una responsabilidad colectiva que recae sobre cada individuo y cada institución. 

Callar ante el odio es, en esencia, ser cómplice de él. La indiferencia es un caldo de cultivo para la proliferación del prejuicio, y el silencio solo envalentona a aquellos que buscan sembrar discordia.

Repudiar el antisemitismo significa más que simplemente condenar los actos violentos. Significa desafiar los estereotipos dañinos, confrontar la desinformación y educarnos a nosotros mismos y a los demás sobre la rica historia y contribución de la comunidad judía. 

Significa reconocer la humanidad compartida que nos une y defender los principios de respeto, inclusión y dignidad para todos, al margen de nuestro origen etnico, del color de nuestra piel o de nuestras creencias.

En nuestras escuelas, hogares y lugares de trabajo, debemos fomentar una cultura de tolerancia y comprensión.

Es fundamental enseñar a las nuevas generaciones sobre los peligros del odio y la importancia de la empatía. Debemos utilizar todas las herramientas a nuestra disposición, desde la educación hasta la legislación, para combatir toda forma de prejuicios y discriminación, contra cualquier segmento de la sociedad.

Why We Must Reject Antisemitic Attacks

In recent days, we have witnessed a troubling resurgence of antisemitic attacks around the world, including incidents in Boulder, Colorado, and Washington, DC.

From offensive graffiti to deadly acts of violence against defenseless Jews, and the desecration of synagogues and cemeteries, these manifestations of hate are not isolated incidents. They are symptoms of a deeper problem that demands our attention and unequivocal condemnation.

Antisemitism is not a new phenomenon. It has poisoned many societies for centuries, fueling conspiracy theories, social exclusion, and systematic violence against Jewish communities.

From the pogroms in Eastern Europe to the Holocaust, history has shown us the devastating consequences of allowing this hatred to take root.

And yet today, we see those same expressions resurfacing—on social media, in street protests, and even in political rhetoric.

Antisemitism, one of the oldest and most pernicious forms of prejudice, is not simply an attack on a specific community; it is an attack on the very foundations of a just and democratic society.

When hatred targets one group, it creates an opening for other forms of intolerance and discrimination to seep in—as seen in expressions against the Hispanic community and others.

Allowing antisemitism to flourish is allowing the seeds of division and injustice to grow.

It is crucial to understand that the fight against antisemitism is a collective responsibility that falls on every individual and every institution.

To remain silent in the face of hatred is, in essence, to be complicit in it. Indifference is fertile ground for the spread of prejudice, and silence only emboldens those who seek to sow discord.

Rejecting antisemitism means more than simply condemning violent acts. It means challenging harmful stereotypes, confronting misinformation, and educating ourselves and others about the rich history and contributions of the Jewish community.

It means recognizing the shared humanity that unites us, and defending the principles of respect, inclusion, and dignity for all—regardless of our ethnic background, skin color, or beliefs.

In our schools, homes, and workplaces, we must foster a culture of tolerance and understanding.

It is essential to teach future generations about the dangers of hatred and the importance of empathy. We must use every tool at our disposal—from education to legislation—to combat all forms of prejudice and discrimination against any segment of society.
