Fuerza Aérea de Israel continúa sus ataques contra Teherán

TEHERÁN.-La Fuerza Aérea de Israel continuó el pasado martes 17 de junio sus ataques contra Teherán y diversas zonas de Irán, que respondió con el disparo de misiles contra el país agresor.

La televisora Al Arabiya informó que durante la madrugada se escucharon explosiones en la capital iraní, mientras tres locali­dades cercanas fueron alcanzadas por cohetes israelíes.

Por su parte, la agencia de noticias iraní Mehr anunció que las defensas aéreas se activaron en las ciudades de Qazvin y Bandar Abbas.

En las últimas horas tres trabajadores de la Media Luna Roja murieron “mientras cumplían con su deber humanitario y ayudaban a los heridos” debido a bombardeos israelíes, denunció la agencia oficial de noticias Irna.

En una entrevista televisada, la vocera del gobierno, Fatemeh Mohajerani, acusó a las fuerzas de ese país levantino de asesinar a 45 mujeres y menores como consecuencia de sus incursiones militares, que comenzaron en la madrugada del viernes.

También denunció el ataque contra el hospital Farabi, en la ciudad de Kermanshah.

En represalia, Irán lanzó en las primeras horas del martes misiles contra el Estado judío, lo cual provocó una alerta y el ingreso de la población a los refugios.

El lunes 16 de junio la refinería de la norteña ciudad israelí de Haifa anunció la paralización de sus labores tras el impacto de cohetes iraníes.

Sin previa declaración de guerra, el gobierno de Benjamin Netanyahu lanzó el viernes 13 de junio un masivo ataque contra Irán, que incluyó el asesinato de científicos y generales, golpes a instalaciones militares y a la central nuclear de Natanz, entre otros objetivos.

La agresión provocó una ola de condenas internacionales, en especial en Oriente Medio, donde numerosos países advirtieron sobre una escalada que podría conducir a una guerra regional.

Israel does not expect a shortage of fuel despite Iranian attack on oil company

Israel’s energy ministry said it does not expect a shortage of fuel, as preparations had been made to secure enough stocks ahead of an Iranian strike on a Haifa oil refinery yesterday.

“The ministry has been preparing in advance, Israel has fuels and stocks, and scarcity is expected,” the ministry said in a statement. “Despite the damage to Bazan (oil refinery in Haifa), no difficulty is expected in supplying the companies with fuels.”

Three employees of Israel’s Bazan Group oil company were killed early Monday in an Iranian attack, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The Haifa-based Bazan, which says it is one of the “largest and most complex energy groups in Israel,” mentioned the damage and employee deaths in the regulatory filing to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The filing says a power plant responsible for “part of the steam and electricity production used by the group’s facilities was significantly damaged” and that all of the refinery’s and subsidiaries’ facilities have been shut down.

Explosions were seen in the coastal Israeli city of Haifa, damaging buildings and setting infrastructure on fire after Israel said Iran launched a new round of missiles early Monday.

In first comment on Israel-Iran conflict, Chinese leader says Beijing is “deeply concerned”

Chinese leader Xi Jinping said his country is “deeply concerned” by the “sudden escalation” of tensions in the Middle East, caused by Israel’s military action against Iran, China’s state-run news agency Xinhua reported Tuesday.

In his first public comment on the Iran-Israel conflict since it broke out on Friday, Xi said China — a key diplomatic and economic backer of Iran — opposes “any acts that infringe on the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity” of other countries.“Military conflict is not a way to solve problems, and the escalation of regional tensions is not in the common interests of the international community,” Xi said, speaking alongside Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Xi is in Astana for the second China-Central Asia Summit.

Xi said that all parties should work to cool the conflict as soon as possible, and that China is willing to work with all parties “to play a constructive role in restoring peace and stability” in the region.
