Johnny Galecki protagonizará una nueva serie de comedia

El intérprete de Leonard en la exitosa The Big Bang Theory se incorpora a The Squad, un proyecto de NBC sobre un grupo de amigos que practica profesionalmente deportes electrónicos.

Es indudable que The Big bang Theory fue una de las sitcom más importantes de la última década. La comedia sobre un grupo de nerds y su relación con la vecina de al lado derivó en una exitosa tira que se prolongó durante doce temporadas, convirtiéndose en una de las últimas grandes comedias televisivas. Con esa serie finalizada, todas sus estrellas comenzaron a buscar nuevos rumbos que les permitieran tomar distancia de esos personajes, y Johnny Galecki, uno de sus protagonistas, ya tiene horizonte confirmado.

El actor que interpretó al inseguro Leonard en The Big Bang Theory será la estrella central en The Squad, una nueva comedia que está produciendo NBC.

Al parecer, Galecki no se alejará tanto del espíritu nerd de su ficción anterior, porque The Squad tratará sobre un grupo de amigos que dedica su tiempo a practicar profesionalmente deportes electrónicos, en la línea de juego como League of Legends, Fortnite o a los populares FIFA. La serie tendrá como eje a esos fanáticos de los e-sports y cómo ese mundo los lleva a entablar alianzas, pero también fuertes enemistades.

El comediante no solo será la gran estrella del ciclo, sino que también oficiará como productor ejecutivo. A su lado estará el guionista Anthony Del Broccolo, quien fuera miembro fijo del equipo de guion en The Big Bang Theory desde su quinta temporada y hasta el final.

Al igual que Johnny Galecki, varios de sus antiguos compañeros de elenco ya tiene nuevos proyectos confirmados. Jim Parsons hará equipo con su excompañera de elenco, Miayim Bialik, para una sitcom que se titulará Carla. Trata sobre una mujer que se separa y gasta el dinero que debía invertir en su boda para ponerse al frente de un «Cat Café».

Por su parte, Kaley Cuoco se dividirá en dos proyectos. Por un lado le pondrá su voz a una ficción animada en la que interpretará a Harley Quinn, la novia del Joker. A su vez, se encontrará también al frente de una serie de terror titulada The Flight Attendant.

Por último, la actriz Melissa Rauch forma parte de Black Monday, una propuesta humorística protagonizada por Don Cheadle.

Johnny Galecki Is Working On A New Comedy With Another Big Bang Theory Coworker

While a lot of The Big Bang Theory cast members had to wait on the right project before landing a new gig after the iconic CBS series wrapped, Johnny Galecki had a sort of cushy in on another network. In fact, he hopped straight into a few fall episodes of The Conners, the spinoff to Roseanne that made him a popular TV actor back in the nineties. Yet, outside of that, he’s mostly opting to focus on producing work, including a new comedy about eSports.

To be frank, the new scripted comedy project sounds dissimilar to his acting predecessors. Instead of science and pop culture-related comedy, this one will focus on eSports. The potential series, which is going by the name The Squad, is being set up at NBC.

If it moves forward, The Squad will team up The Big Bang Theory star with another Big Bang Theory alum, Anthony Del Broccolo. Del Broccolo originally joined the CBS sitcom as a writer back in Season 5. Both men will executive produce the new project, along with Holly Brown. Del Broccolo will also be writing the script for the pilot.

There’s no word on who will star in The Squad yet, which means it’s in the early phases of development, but it will be about a group of friends who have found their “tribe,” according to Deadline.

The cast of The Big Bang Theory all have eyes on new gigs in the coming months, if they haven’t signed on to new projects already. For Johnny Galecki, this has meant guest starring on The Conners as David Healy and going hard on producing work, as he also executive produced Living Biblically. I think a lot of people would like to see him in front of the camera in a leading role again, but we’ll have to wait and see.
