Taylor Swift reconocida como la mejor artista del año

La intérprete también se impuso en la terna femenina de rock/pop,y Justin Bieber hizo lo propio en la categoría masculina de los American Music Awards 2020

A pesar de la pandemia del coronavirus, la industria del entretenimiento logra reinventarse y en el último tiempo comenzaron a realizarse diferentes ceremonias de premiación, adaptadas a las medidas de higiene y sanitización requeridas en la actualidad. En ese marco, la entrega de estatuillas de los American Music Awards 2020 a lo mejor de la música se llevó a cabo el domingo pasado desde el Microsoft Theatre de Los Ángeles.

Los American Music Awards reconocen a los mejores y más populares artistas de la música de la última temporada, gracias a la votación de los fanáticos que eligen a sus artistas favoritos según su éxito en los Billboard, en un período que en esta ocasión abarca desde el 27 de septiembre de 2019 hasta el 24 de septiembre de 2020.

La gran protagonista de la velada fue Taylor Swift, quien fue distinguida con el premio a Artista del Año y Mejor Artista Femenina en la categoría Rock/Pop. Además, se impuso en la terna Mejor Video Musical por “Cardigan”.

The Weeknd, otro de los grandes premiados, se consagró en ternas como Artista Masculino Favorito de Soul/R&B y Álbum Favorito de Soul/R&B por “After Hours”.

Asimismo, Justin Bieber se impuso en la categoría masculina de Pop/Rock. Becky G fue la Mejor Artista Femenina en la categoría Latina y Doja Cat fue la Mejor Nueva Artista.

“10,000 hours”, la canción del dúo Dan + Shay con Justin Bieber, fue una de las más destacadas de los American Music Awards, al ser premiada en la terna Canción Favorita de música country y también en Colaboración del Año. Por su parte, el tema de Dua Lip “Don’t Start Now” se consagró como el mejor en la categoría de Rock/Pop.

The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift Among Honoree

The American Music Awards (AMAs) handed out trophies for their 2020 ceremony with The Weeknd, Doja Cat and Taylor Swift as some of the night’s top winners.

Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, this in-person ceremony aired on ABC and was wildly socially distanced with cardboard cutouts of Beyonce, Jay Z, Dolly Parton and others in the orchestra section of the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, select masked fans who were tested for COVID and socially distanced were in the balcony of the theater to provide live energy to performers that included Jennifer Lopez, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Megan Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Darius Rucker, BTS as well as the unexpected duet of The Weeknd and Kenny G. We also had throwback performances from the iconic R&B trio Bell Biv Devoe as well as a medley from Nelly.

In addition, this year’s AMAs included new rap and hip-hop categories as well as new awards for Latin music. The ceremony is certainly a move forward of what we can expect from award ceremonies in the year to come.
