The first chapter of “El Chavo del 8” turns 50

It was unintentionally wanting. To Roberto Gómez Bolaños, “El Chavo del 8” was sparked. The first chapter was a sketch which, after he did not want to, pretended to be one more in his usual content, But it ended up being the number one show on humorous television.

On June 20, 1971, the story began with the transmission of “El ropavejero”, episode created to replace a sketch in which Rubén Aguirre participated, who had momentarily left the comedy program “Chespirito”, of the then Independent Television of Mexico.

María Antonieta de las Nieves remembers it almost as an essay: “It was one more title, we didn’t think it would like it so much and be the best white comedy program in Latin America, we didn’t think that with ‘El ropavejero’ we were going to be eternal, because it’s 50 years old and I’m still intact. “

Roberto Gómez Fernández, son of “Chespirito”, who was seven years old at the time, agrees and began to see the rise of his father, who was 42.

“‘El Chavo’ came out a bit by accident, my father had written about a globero man with the characteristic that he did not like children very well, rather he preferred them far away and the children were quite annoying with him. Without the characters had names at that time, my dad rescued them and began to shape the members of the neighborhood. “

In that first episode, the “Chilindrina” wore a different dress. The actress was 21 years old and it was her mother who bought her the outfit. “It was a girl’s dress, size 12, and she raised her waist to the bust so it wouldn’t show,” recalls the actress.

“El Chavo del 8” was recorded for 25 years and was distributed in 12 Latin American countries, the United States and Spain; translated into 50 languages.
Roberto Gómez Fernández assured that at the moment he has no plans to work on a series produced by Disney: “Animation projects yes we have them considered and they are in development, but we are still developing them on behalf of us, with our production company, they still do not have an addressee”, he claimed.

Although there will be no physical celebration for the 50th anniversary of the first transmission of “El Chavo del 8”, due to the pandemic, the celebration with the fans will be virtually: “There are some things that we are generating, there is not an event as such, but some communication through social networks,” he explained.

Personally, Roberto will celebrate accompanied by his family and accelerating the new projects inspired by the creations of his father and in his life itself, with the bioseries that he announced a long time ago: “I think it is a year of conciliation in many ways and that is what we are now”.
