La Semana de Bienvenida en Tulsa / Welcoming Week in Tulsa

TULSA OK — Esta semana se celebra la Semana de Bienvenida (Welcoming Week, por sus siglas en inglés) a través de los Estados Unidos para celebrar la diversidad y la comunidad inmigrante. Como parte de la celebración en Tulsa, se llevarán a cabo varios eventos y actividades en la ciudad. Según los datos más recientes de American Community Survey de 2019, el 11% de la población de Tulsa es nacida en el extranjero. La mayoría de los inmigrantes es de origen latinoamericano con un 65%, seguido por un 25% de origen asiático, 5% de origen europeo, 4% de origen africano y 1% norteamericanos.

Ceremonia de Naturalización

Miércoles, 15 de septiembre, 9 a.m. a 10 a.m.

La Ciudad de Tulsa y USCIS serán sede de una ceremonia de naturalización este miércoles en el Ayuntamiento. El alcalde G.T. Bynum dará la bienvenida a los nuevos ciudadanos estadounidenses representando ocho países. La ceremonia será transmitida en vivo en TGOV para permitir que la familia, amigos y miembros de la comunidad puedan celebrar virtualmente. Sistema Tulsa estará presente de nuevo para tocar el himno nacional durante la ceremonia. La Liga de Mujeres Votantes (League of Women Voters) también estará presente para ayudar a los nuevos ciudadanos a registrarse para votar. Hasta la fecha, un total de 555 personas se han naturalizado en Tulsa.

Compartiremos información y recursos para mejor reclutar empleados inmigrantes en Tulsa y cómo apoyarlos. Esta sesión de entrenamiento también va a compartir maneras para que los inmigrantes accedan a empleos y mucho más. Invitamos a todo administrador de casos, personal de recursos humanos y cualquier persona que trabaje directamente con clientes inmigrantes a buscar trabajo o desarrollo educativo. El entrenamiento es parte del esfuerzo de Flourish Tulsa para conectar inmigrantes con oportunidades de trabajo que ofrecen buen salario y oportunidades de avanzar. Festival de la Semana de Bienvenida

La Ciudad de Tulsa y la organización YWCA celebrarán la Semana de Bienvenida con un festival al aire libre fuera de las oficinas de YWCA, 8145 E. 17th St. Tulsa. Este evento familiar celebra los emprendedores de Tulsa y nuestra comunidad de inmigrantes y refugiados. Habrá vendedores, puestos de comida, música en vivo y actividades, incluyendo información de varias organizaciones que apoyan a los emprendedores y dueños de negocios. 

Partido de Fútbol FC Tulsa

Sábado, 18 de septiembre, 7 p.m.

La celebración de la Semana de Bienvenida incluye el partido de fútbol en el estadio ONEOK. El equipo FC Tulsa tiene jugadores representando 11 países de cuatro continentes. Varias organizaciones locales estarán presentes para compartir recursos disponibles en la comunidad. Los nuevos ciudadanos de la ceremonia de naturalización el 15 de septiembre recibirán boletos gratis para el partido de fútbol.

Welcoming Week in Tulsa

TULSA OK – This week Welcoming Week is celebrated across the United States to celebrate diversity and the immigrant community. As part of the celebration in Tulsa, various events and activities will take place in the city. According to the most recent 2019 American Community Survey data, 11% of Tulsa’s population is foreign-born. Naturalization Ceremony

Wednesday, September 15, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The City of Tulsa and USCIS will host a naturalization ceremony this Wednesday at City Hall. Mayor G.T. Bynum will welcome new US citizens representing eight countries. The ceremony will be broadcast live on TGOV to allow family, friends and community members to celebrate virtually. Tulsa System will be present again to play the national anthem during the ceremony. The League of Women Voters will also be on hand to help new citizens register to vote. To date, a total of 555 people have naturalized in Tulsa.

Training Session on Recruitment of Immigrants

Friday, September 17, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

All HR staff and case managers are invited to the Flourish Tulsa / Upwardly Global Training Session during Welcoming Week. The event will share information and resources to better recruit immigrant employees in Tulsa and how to support them. This training session will also share ways for immigrants to access jobs and much more. Organizers invite all case managers, human resources staff, and anyone who works directly with immigrant clients to seek work or educational development. The training is part of Flourish Tulsa’s effort to connect immigrants with job opportunities that offer good pay and opportunities for advancement. Welcoming Week Festival

Saturday, September 18 from 2 to 5 p.m.

The City of Tulsa and the YWCA will celebrate Welcoming Week with an outdoor festival outside the YWCA offices, 8145 E. 17th St. Tulsa. This family event celebrates Tulsa entrepreneurs and our immigrant and refugee community. There will be vendors, food stalls, live music and activities, including information from various organizations that support entrepreneurs and business owners.

FC Tulsa Football Game

Saturday, September 18, 7 p.m.

The Welcoming Week celebration includes the soccer match at ONEOK Stadium. The FC Tulsa team has players representing 11 countries from four continents. Various local organizations will be present to share resources available in the community. New citizens for the naturalization ceremony on September 15 will receive free tickets to the soccer game.
