Una tarde llena de emociones se vivió en el Gran Premio de México, tras 71 vueltas intensas Sergio Checo Pérez cumplió su objetivo de llevarse un podio en casa. Terminó la carrera en el tercer puesto, tan solo por detrás de Lewis Hamilton que no soltó la segunda posición.
El primer lugar se lo llevó su compañero de escudería Max Verstappen, el segundo lugar quedó Hamilton de Mercedes y en tercer lugar quedó el mexicano Checo Pérez.
La euforia en el Foro Sol explotó, pues la afición mexicana aplaudió y coreó la victoria de Checo con Red Bull. Por primera vez un mexicano logró un podio en el GP de México.
“Increíble, obviamente quería el 1 – 2 para el equipo pero no se logró. Escuchaba a la afición cada que llegaba al Foro Sol. Que lo disfrutemos muchísimo, ustedes siempre han sido la mejor afición, tenemos que celebrarlo”, fueron sus palabras.

Verstappen comfortably beat the Briton and extended his championship lead to 19 points.
