Marcus Lamb, evangelista cristiano estadounidense y partidario del movimiento antivacunas, murió por COVID-19 a los 64 años, según anunciaron su esposa y su medio, Daystar Television Network.

“Con gran pesar anunciamos que Marcus Lamb, presidente y fundador de Daystar Television Network, se fue a casa para estar con el Señor esta mañana”, tuiteó Dailystar el martes. “La familia pide que se respete su privacidad mientras lloran esta difícil pérdida”.

Su esposa, Joni Lamb, dijo que el evangelista tenía diabetes y que fue internado en un hospital después de haberse contagiado de coronavirus.

“Se le diagnosticó COVID y luego tuvo neumonía de COVID. Pero tenía condiciones preexistentes”, señaló Joni. “Tenía diabetes, pero la mantenía a raya”, agregó.

La familia Lamb y Daystar han hecho declaraciones controvertidas sobre el COVID-19 a lo largo de la pandemia. El 23 de noviembre pasado, en su programa Ministry Now, Jonathan Lamb, el hijo del evangelista fallecido, calificó la enfermedad de su padre como un “ataque espiritual del enemigo”.

“Por mucho que mis padres hayan salido aquí para informar a todo el mundo sobre todo lo que está pasando en la pandemia y algunas de las formas de tratar el COVID, no hay duda de que el enemigo no está contento con eso y está haciendo todo lo posible para acabar con mi padre”, dijo, según el medio estadounidense CBS News.

El sitio web de Daystar ofrece una gran cantidad de información errónea sobre el COVID-19, calificando las vacunas de “crisis oculta” e insinuando una “verdad peligrosa” sobre su eficacia y propósito. La cadena ha presentado una serie de videos y podcasts en los que habla en contra de las vacunas contra la gripe y el VPH, entre otras, y ha realizado entrevistas con defensores de las vacunas, como Robert Kennedy Jr. y Simone Gold, miembro del controvertido grupo America’s Frontline Doctors.

La familia Lamb también ha promocionado el uso de tratamientos no aprobados para el COVID-19, como la ivermectina y la hidroxicloroquina. Los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades de Estados Unidos y los Institutos Nacionales de Salud han advertido repetidamente contra el uso de estos medicamentos para tratar el coronavirus.

The founder of a global evangelical Christian television network who publicly opposed COVID-19 vaccines has died weeks after he contracted the virus.

The death of 64-year-old Marcus Lamb, the founder and president of the Texas-based Daystar Television Network, was announced Tuesday in a tweet by the conservative network.

“It’s with a heavy heart we announce that Marcus Lamb, president and founder of Daystar Television Network, went home to be with the Lord this morning,” the tweet read. “The family asks that their privacy be respected as they grieve this difficult loss. Please continue to lift them up in prayer.”

Lamb has publicly opposed the available coronavirus vaccines and has instead promoted unproven COVID-19 treatments, Media Matters reported.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that this is a spiritual attack from the enemy,” Lamb’s son Jonathan said about his father’s battle with COVID-19 during a broadcast on November 23, Religion News Service reported.

The son added, “As much as my parents have gone on here to kind of inform everyone about everything going on to the pandemic and some of the ways to treat COVID — there’s no doubt that the enemy is not happy about that. And he’s doing everything he can to take down my Dad.”

Marcus Lamb joins a growing list of conservative, anti-vaccine media personalities to have died as a result of COVID-19.

Radio hosts and coronavirus vaccine critics Bob Enyart, Dick Farrel, Phil Valentine, and Marc Bernier all died this year after their battles with the COVID-19.

Other high-profile anti-vaccine advocates to have died this year from the coronavirus include: former CIA officer and conspiracy theorist Robert David Steele, anti-mask rally organizer Caleb Wallace, and South Carolina GOP conservative leader Pressley Stutts.
