La NFL confirmó este sábado que el pasador de los Buccaneers, Tom Brady, se retira luego de 22 temporadas y siete Super Bowls ganados que lo convierten en el máximo ganador en la historia de la liga.
«El siete veces campeón del Super Bowl, Tom Brady, se retira después de 22 temporadas en la NFL», fue el mensaje que la NFL compartió a través de sus redes sociales.
Tom Brady, quien jugó 10 veces por el campeonato de la liga y obtuvo siete triunfos y tres derrotas. Entre sus récords ostenta el de más veces seleccionado al Pro Bowl con 15, cinco veces Jugador Más Valioso del Super Bowl y tres veces de la temporada.
El pasador fue seleccionado en el año 2000 en la quinta ronda en el lugar 199 por los Patriots y dos años después levantó su primer trofeo Vince Lombardi. Brady de 44 años, rompió a tal grado el comparativo de logros con el resto de los pasadores de la NFL que se le tuvo que empezar a medir con las franquicias más poderosas de la liga a las que también superó.
El dueño del jersey número 12 ganó siete Super Bowls, uno más que los New England Patriots y los Pittsburgh Steelers que tienen seis y participó en 10 juegos por el trofeo Vince Lombardi.
El nacido en San Mateo, California, tenía como ídolo de la infancia al pasador de los San Francisco 49ers, Joe Montana, el segundo con más Super Bowls ganados con cuatro, junto con Terry Bradshaw de los Pittsburgh Steelers.
Su último partido fue la derrota por 30-27 ante San Francisco en la ronda divisional de la Conferencia Nacional, y aunque le restaba un año de contrato con los Tampa Bay Buccaneers, decidió decir adiós.
«La mayor diferencia es que ahora que soy mayor, tengo hijos, me preocupo por ellos. Mi esposa, mi mayor apoyo, le duele verme ser golpeado y ella y mis hijos me necesitan» declaró la semana pasada en un mensaje en el que dejaba ver la decisión que ahora confirmó.
Tom Brady terminó la temporada 2021 como el pasador número uno en yardas con 5.316 y con más anotaciones, 43. Además cerró su participación en playoffs con 86 pases de anotación en su carrera, otra marca de la liga.

ESPN journalists Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington confirmed Brady’s retirement moments before the NFL posted in their social media accounts a homage to Brady’s career.
Brady won seven Super Bowls, six with the New England Patriots, and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his first season.
The NFL and the sports world announced Brady’s retirement. It is, indeed, his final will. However, he hasn’t published or spoken publicly about it.

Brady was thinking about retirement years before the 2021 season. Nevertheless, he wanted to prove his naysayers wrong by going and winning a Super Bowl with a team that wasn’t the New England Patriots.
At the end of the 2021 season, Tom Brady was outspoken about Gisselle Bündchen’s desires and pain seeing Brady at the football field.
“My wife is my biggest supporter,” Brady said on his SiriusXM podcast. “She deserves [to get] what she needs from me as a husband and my kids deserve what they need from me as a dad, and I’m gonna spend some time with them and give them what they need, ‘cause they’ve really been giving me what I need the last six months to do what I love to do.”
“I said this a few years ago, [but that’s] what relationships are all about. It’s not always what I want. It’s what we want as a family.”
It is the appropriate time for Brady to say goodbye to the NFL. In 22 seasons, he craved an era becoming the mos laureated figure in football.
