Son muchos los restaurantes Mexicanos en la ciudad, y casi todos tienen el mismo denominador común: dueños inmigrantes que desean abrirse paso en Estados Unidos a base de trabajo duro y recetas tradicionales de la cultura culinaria más sabrosa.

Casa Amigos abrió sus puertas hace dos semanas, y la voz se empezó a correr, no es otro restaurante más, es uno especial, o “bonito” como afirma su dueño, Sixto Gutiérrez.

Para este inmigrante de Zacatecas, el restaurante es un sueño hecho realidad; en su pueblo natal oraba día y noche para llegar a Estados Unidos y construir un porvenir, y hoy con Casa Amigos se ha convertido en otro emprendedor con ganas de más. “En la pandemia trabajo no había, dinero, tampoco y por eso busqué ayuda para montar un negocio propio”, confesó.

“El secreto es ofrecer buena comida, buen servicio y un buen lugar”, aseguró mirando las mesas a su alrededor. Es que un rasgo que llama la atención de Casa Amigos es su decoración, agradable y cálida, igual que un rico plato mexicano. Aquí, la especialidad es la Birria, una comida autentica de Zacatecas que acompañada por la Margarita Casa Amigos, con un tequila especial, sale como pan caliente.

Sixto no le teme a la competencia, porque asegura que dios lo acompaña siempre. “Cada restaurante es diferente, quizás el menú sea similar y el nombre de los platos, pero el sabor no, y el lugar menos. En definitiva, yo pienso que el sol sale para todos, no para algunos”, explicó el empresario gastronómico.

Construir el sueño no fue fácil, y Sixto lo consiguió con ayuda de dos socios, y se lanzó a la aventura a sabiendas de que la inversión era extensa. “Pero no tuve miedo, porque estoy en el país de las oportunidades”, reconoció. Y se nota que algo ha hecho bien, porque los clientes no han dejado de entrar desde la ceremonia de corte de moño.

Hoy, con su mujer a su lado, piensa en expandirse. “Quiero ampliar este local y después abrir otro negocio más. Porque me interesa ir progresando. Como los que trabajamos acá somos familia, podemos lograrlo, tenemos mucha comunicación y confianza”, agregó.

Trabajar en restaurante no es para cualquiera, son 12 horas de trabajo diario con altas y bajas, días y noches que requieren algo que muchos mexicanos tienen: voluntad inquebrantable. “Este es mi negocio y tengo que estar aquí”, explico Sixto sin quejarse.

A quienes tengan el sueño de emprender Sixto les recomienda: “ Dejen el miedo, si tienen planes, sueños y quieren futuro propio, déjenlo atrás, porque a veces el miedo te impide hacer muchas cosas, te impide avanzar. Solo la mente positiva nos ayuda a salir adelante”.

There are many Mexican restaurants in Tulsa and almost all have the exact same secret ingredient: the owners are immigrants who want to achieve their American dream with hard work and the best culinary traditions.

Casa Amigos opened its doors two weeks ago and since then it has been setting a trend, because this is not just another Mexican restaurant, but a tiny, cozy, and beautiful one, or “bonito,” as its owner, Sixto Gutierrez says.

Gutierrez migrated from Zacatecas hoping to build a future of his own. He prayed every night to his virgencita to be able to cross the border, and today he has become another entrepreneur who is eager for more.

“During the pandemic there was no work, no money, so I looked for help to make my own business,” he recalled. “The secret for it to work is easy: good food, quality service and a nice place.”

And he is right, because at Casa Amigos the decoration takes all the attention; it is warm and welcoming, just like a tasty Mexican plate. At the restaurant the special dish is the Birria, a delicacy from Zacatecas, that is served with the drink of the house “Margarita Casa Amigos.”

Gutierrez is not afraid of having a little competition, because he is sure God is always by his side.

“Every restaurant is different, maybe the menu is similar or even the courses, but not the taste, not the place. All in all, I believe the sun comes out for all of us, not some,” he explained.

Building the dream was not easy, and Sixto made it happen with the help of two investors who joined him in the adventure, aware of the financial decision they were making.

“I was never afraid, because I live in the country of opportunities,” he said. And it’s evident his confidence has paid off, because hungry customers haven’t stopped coming since the opening.

Today, with his wife by his side, Gutierrez thinks about expanding.

“I want to make the place bigger and then open another business, I want to progress. We are all family here, we can make it because we have a lot of trust and communication,” he said.

Is not easy to work at a restaurant, 12 working hours a day with ups and downs, full days and long nights that require something that most Mexicans have: an unbreakable will. “This is my business and I need to be here, always,” summarized Gutierrez.

To all those in the search for their dreams Sixto Gutierrez recommends: “Leave fear aside, if you have plans for your future, then leave it all behind, because fear stops you from doing things, from moving forward. Only a positive mind helps you achieve your dreams.”
