El puertorriqueño Bad Bunny dominó la entrega de los premios Billboard de la Música Latina 2022 este jueves en Miami, arrasando en nueve categorías, incluyendo las codiciadas Artista, Compositor y Top Álbum Latino del Año.

Nacido Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, el fenómeno de la música llegó a la premiación liderando con 23 nominaciones y su nombre retumbó en el Watsco Center durante la ceremonia que reconoce a los álbumes, canciones e intérpretes más populares de la música latina de acuerdo con las listas semanales de Billboard.

El reggaetonero de 28 años de edad acumula éxitos este año, que incluyó escenas con Brad Pitt en la pantalla grande en El tren bala, mayor número de nominaciones de los premios Grammy Latinos y el éxito de su álbum Un verano sin ti, a la cabeza de la lista Billboard 200.

El también puertorriqueño Carlos Efrén Reyes Rosado, conocido como Farruko, le siguió con cuatro estatuillas gracias a su éxito «Pepas», que se llevó el premio a la Canción Hot Latina y Canción del Año, entre otras.

«Estoy aquí para decirles que tengamos más empatía, que seamos mejores seres humanos», dijo el cantante en un sentido discurso. «Mientras estamos celebrando unos premios, hay gente en Cuba que lo poquito que tenía lo perdieron, hay gente en Puerto Rico que lo poco que tenían lo perdieron, hay gente en la Florida que no tiene dónde dormir», agregó refiriéndose a las condiciones climáticas que azotan a la región caribe.

La colombiana Karol G, que llegó con quince nominaciones, capitalizó en tres categorías, incluyendo Artista del año femenina.

En una noche que bañó de gloria al reguetón, el puertorriqueño Rauw Alejandro empató con las estrellas del género regional mexicano Grupo Firme y Eslabón Armado, llevándose dos premios cada uno.

La ceremonia del miércoles vio un desfile de estrellas, con actuaciones de, entre otros, Christina Aguilera, Ozuna, Camilo, Elvis Crespo, Carlos Vives y Maluma, quien aprovechó la gala para estrenar su canción «Junio».

Los organizadores además rindieron homenajes a consagradas figuras de la música latina como el astro del pop Chayanne, que recibió el Billboard Icono, y el reguetonero Nicky Jam que fue galardonado con el premio Salón de la Fama.

«De verdad que no me esperaba esto», dijo el artista emocionado al recibir el premio de manos de su padre. «Estoy nervioso», continuó en su mensaje de agradecimiento que incluyó amigos, familiares y colegas.

Christina Aguilera también honrada con el Espíritu de la esperanza, dedicado a reconocer esfuerzos filantrópicos.

Raphael, el ídolo español de 79 años de edad, fue consagrado con el Billboard por su trayectoria artística de décadas influenciando la música hispana. La organización concedió además el Billboard Leyenda al cantautor puertorriqueño José Feliciano, cuya carrera cuenta varios Grammys y una estrella en el Paseo de la Fama de Hollywood, entre otros logros.
