Chicago (EEUU), 7 abr (EFE).- El fuerte viento provocó este viernes la caída de varios arboles en Augusta (Georgia, EEUU), sin que nadie resultara herido, y obligó a interrumpir por segunda vez en pocas horas el Masters de golf, primer ‘grande’ de la temporada.

La caída de arboles, al menos tres, se produjo en la zona del hoyo 17 a causa de una tormenta de lluvia y viento.

Ningún aficionado ni jugador resultó herido, según informan los medios estadounidenses.

Tras una mañana con buenas condiciones meteorológicas, la intensidad del viento aumentó por la tarde local y obligó a interrumpir la competición durante veinte minutos pasadas las 14.00 locales, y de nuevo pasadas las 16.00 locales.

Brooks Koepka fue el único de los tres líderes del jueves que pudo completar su ronda, mientras que el español Jon Rahm y el noruego Viktor Hovland tuvieron que pararse.

Rahm lucía un acumulado de -9 en el noveno hoyo, a tres de Koepka, mientras que Hovland dejó su ronda en el décimo hoyo, con un total de -6.

Uno de los mejores del día fue el amateur Sam Bennett, quien ocupa actualmente la segunda plaza con un acumulado de ocho bajo par.

El norirlandés Rory McIlroy tuvo un día muy complicado y su acumulado de cinco sobre par le impedirá pasar el corte.

También sufrió el defensor del título y número uno del mundo Scottie Scheffler, que tras el -4 del jueves, entregó una tarjeta de 75 golpes, tres sobre par.

Chicago (USA), Apr 7 (EFE).- The strong wind caused this Friday the fall of several trees in Augusta (Georgia, USA), without anyone being injured, and forced to interrupt for the second time in a few hours the Golf Masters, the first ‘big’ of the season.

The fall of trees, at least three, occurred in the area of the 17th hole due to a storm of rain and wind.

No fan or player was injured, according to the American media.

After a morning with good weather conditions, the intensity of the wind increased in the local afternoon and forced to interrupt the competition for twenty minutes after 2:00 local time, and again after 4:00 pm local time.

Brooks Koepka was the only one of Thursday’s three leaders who was able to complete his round, while Spaniard Jon Rahm and Norwegian Viktor Hovland had to stop.

Rahm had an accumulated of -9 in the ninth hole, three behind Koepka, while Hovland left his round in the tenth hole, with a total of -6.
