Muere la cantante y actriz británica Jane Birkin a los 76 años

PARÍS.- La cantante y actriz británica Jane Birkin ha muerto a los 76 años en París tras desarrollar la práctica totalidad de su carrera artística en Francia, aunque llevaba tiempo apartada de la escena por problemas de salud.

El canal BFMTV, citando fuentes del entorno de la artista, indicó este domingo que la encontraron muerta en su domicilio de París.

Llevaba un tiempo retirada de los escenarios, aunque había vuelto al trabajo puntualmente tras sufrir un ataque vascular cerebral en 2021 que la dejó afectada.

Nacida en Londres el 14 de diciembre de 1946 Jane Birkin era hija de un militar y de una célebre actriz inglesa, Judy Campbell, con lo que estuvo en contacto directo con el cine desde la niñez.

Sus primeros papeles fueron en dos películas premiadas en el Festival de Cannes, «Le Knakck» de Richard Lester en 1965 y, sobre todo, «Blow-Up» de Michelangelo Antonioni en 1967.

Con esa experiencia, en 1968 decidió instalarse en Francia, donde conoció al cantante Serge Gainsbourg con el que vivió una historia de amor que se tradujo en algunos títulos que causaron sensación y algún que otro escándalo, en particular con un dúo que ha dejado huella en la historia de la canción francesa, «Je t’aime moi non plus» en 1979.

Aunque la pareja Birkin-Gainsbourg se rompió en 1980, el compositor y cantante escribió tres años después para ella uno de sus álbumes de más prestigio, «Baby alone in babylone», por el que fue recompensada con un disco de oro, algo que volvió a conseguir con «Arabesque» en 2002.

Sus problemas de salud le obligaron a interrumpir temporalmente su carrera en 2012 por una pericarditis aguda que la obligó a descansar. En diciembre del año siguiente perdió a su hija mayor, Kate.

En 2017 fue ella misma la que contó que se había estado tratando de una leucemia.
