FOX23.com News Staff – TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa woman is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the March death of a 2-year-old child.

Christina Barnes is charged with one count of first-degree murder by child abuse. She was arrested and booked Wednesday afternoon.

According to a police affidavit, Barnes drove the 2-year-old female victim to St. Francis Hospital earlier this year in March. The child was unresponsive when they arrived at the hospital.

Medical staff performed lifesaving measures, but the child died the next morning.

The medical examiner’s report said the manner of death was homicide due to blunt force trauma of the head and neck.

The child had multiple injuries to her brain, optic nerves and spine, injuries the child-abuse pediatrician and medical examiner said could not have been accidental.

Barnes was interviewed and said she picked the child up from daycare and took her home in Tulsa. She said the child was breathing irregularly and later took the child to the hospital after calling the father and police.

The daycare said the child, who was sitting upright and smiling in photos taken at the daycare, was fine when she left that day.

Barnes denied violently shaking or “flinging” the child, and also denied having mental health history.

An arrest warrant was issued last Thursday and Barnes is currently being held without bond.

Mujer de Tulsa arrestada, acusada de asesinato en primer grado de un niño de 2 años

FOX23.com News Staff – TULSA, Okla. — TULSA, Oklahoma. – Una mujer de Tulsa está acusada de asesinato en primer grado en relación con la muerte en marzo de un niño de 2 años.

Christina Barnes está acusada de un cargo de asesinato en primer grado por abuso infantil. Fue arrestada y reservada el miércoles por la tarde.

Según una declaración jurada de la policía, Barnes llevó a la víctima de 2 años a St. Hospital Francis a principios de este año en marzo. El niño no respondió cuando llegó al hospital.

El personal médico realizó medidas para salvar vidas, pero el niño murió a la mañana siguiente.

El informe del médico forense dijo que la forma de muerte fue el homicidio debido a un traumatismo contundente de la cabeza y el cuello.

La niña tenía múltiples lesiones en el cerebro, los nervios ópticos y la columna vertebral, lesiones que el pediatra y el médico forense de abuso infantil dijeron que no podrían haber sido accidentales.

Barnes fue entrevistada y dijo que recogió a la niña de la guardería y se la llevó a casa en Tulsa. Dijo que el niño estaba respirando de forma irregular y más tarde lo llevó al hospital después de llamar al padre y a la policía.

La guardería dijo que la niña, que estaba sentada erguida y sonriendo en las fotos tomadas en la guardería, estaba bien cuando se fue ese día.

Barnes negó sacudir violentamente o “tirar” al niño, y también negó tener antecedentes de salud mental.

El jueves pasado se emitió una orden de arresto y Barnes está actualmente detenido sin fianza.
