El premio individual más importante de la temporada es sin duda alguna el que se entrega alJugador Más Valioso, con el Cy Young, Novato del Año y Manager del Año siendo ya entregados, faltaba el plato fuerte, con los candidatos favoritos imponiéndose tanto en la Liga Nacional como la Americana.

Shohei Ohtani y Ronald Acuña Jr., fueron quienes al final se llevaron a casa el galardón, ambos de manera unánime, la primera vez que sucede en la historia de las Grandes Ligas, obteniendo los dos los 30 votos disponibles al primer lugar.

El ‘Unicornio’ lo hizo de nuevo

Del lado del japonés Shohei Ohtani, el pitcher/bateador logró su segundo MVP, también de manera unánime al igual que el conseguido en 2021, luego de postear una increíble campaña en ambos lados del terreno: Como pitcher tiró 132 entradas, 167 K’s, récord de 10-5 y efectividad de 3.14.

Cómo bateador, fue líder en la Americana con 44 jonrones, con línea de .304/.412/.654 y siendo líder en todo MLB en OPS, OPS+ y WAR con 1.066, 184, y 10.0 respectivamente. El japonés venció a los campeones de Serie Mundial, Corey Seager y Marcus Semien, quienes hicieron el 2 y 3.

Por otro lado, el venezolano Ronald Acuña Jr. tuvo una increíble campaña al ser el miembro fundador del 40/70 club, logrando 41 vuelacercas y 73 bases robadas, siendo líder en todo MLB en dicho departamento, y también carreras anotadas e imparables con 149 y 217 respectivamente.

Acabó con una línea de .337/.416/.596 liderando Las Mayores en OBP y bases totales (383). El de los Bravos de Atlanta es el tercer venezolano en la historia en ganar el MVP, acompañando a futuros Salones de la Fama como Miguel Cabrera y José Altuve. El podio lo completaron el duo de los Dodgers de Los Angeles, Mookie Betts y Freddie Freeman, quedando 2 y 3 respectivamente.
