Mexico condemns aggression against a Mexican minor in Little Rock, Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Un estudiante mexicano de 12 años fue agredido en una escuela secundaria de Little Rock la semana pasada por un asesor adulto que trabajaba para la escuela, y el cónsul mexicano de la ciudad está prestando mucha atención al caso.

“El Consulado de México en Little Rock condenó enérgicamente la agresión física que sufrió un menor mexicano de 12 años, por parte de un empleado de la Escuela Secundaria “Cloverdale” del Distrito Escolar de Little Rock”, dijo el consulado en un comunicado de prensa del 23 de noviembre.

Desde el momento en que la familia denunció el lamentable hecho al Consulado, se estableció contacto con las autoridades locales y escolares para exigir una investigación y que se castigue al responsable. Asimismo, asignó abogados a la familia para iniciar acciones legales en contra de quienes resulten responsables de esta inaceptable agresión.

Las autoridades del departamento de policía de la ciudad ya conducen una investigación para determinar los hechos y fijar las sanciones corres­pondientes.

Directivos educativos han informado que están en curso indagatorias por parte del distrito escolar y el departamento de servicios humanos y que el supuesto agresor ha sido suspendido de sus labores en el plantel.

El gobierno de México reprueba cualquier tipo de agresión física, emocional o económica, en contra de cualquier persona sin importar color, género, credo religioso o nacionalidad; más aún, si la víctima es menor de edad.

El consulado de México permanecerá atento a los resultados de la investigación y continuará velando por el respeto íntegro de los derechos de sus compatriotas en la circunscripción consular, de conformidad con la convención de viena de relaciones consulares de 1963, de la cual México y Estados Unidos son parte.

Mexico condemns aggression against a Mexican minor in Little Rock, Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR – 12-year old Mexican student at a Little Rock middle school was reportedly assaulted last week by an adult aide working for the school, and the Mexican consul there is paying close attention to the case.

“The Consulate of Mexico in Little Rock, Arkansas has strongly condemned the physical aggression that a 12-year-old Mexican minor received by an employee of Cloverdale Middle School of the Little Rock School District,” the consulate said in a Nov. 23 press release.

From the moment that the family informed this unfortunate incident to this office, the Consulate established contact with the local authorities and the School District to demand an investigation and that the person responsible be punished. Likewise, the Consulate offered specialized attorneys to the family to initiate legal actions against whomever is responsible.

The Little Rock Police Department has knowledge of the incident and is conducting an investigation to determine the facts and bring the corresponding criminal charges.

Educational authorities said that there are ongoing inquiries on behalf of the School District and the Department of Human Services, and that the alleged aggressor has been suspended.

The Government of Mexico in Little Rock condemns any type of physical, emotional, or economic aggression against any person, no matter their race, gender, religion or nationality, particularly if the victim is a minor.

The Consulate of Mexico will remain observant to the results of the investigation and will continue to look after the full respect of the Mexican nationals on this consular circumscription, according to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, in which both Mexico and the United States are signatory parties.
