OKLAHOMA CITY – El gobernador Kevin Stitt anunció la semana pasada que el Jefe de Gabinete Michael Junk saldrá de la Administración Stitt para buscar oportunidades más cercanas a su familia en Tulsa a partir del 31 de julio.
“Michael Junk ha sido una mano firme que ayudó a guiarnos a través de una serie de desafíos históricos durante mis primeros 18 meses en el cargo”, dijo el gobernador Stitt. “El estado de Oklahoma está mejor debido a las largas horas y al esfuerzo incansable que ha brindado, y no puedo agradecerle lo suficiente por su servicio”.
“Ha sido el honor de toda una vida trabajar junto al gobernador Stitt”, dijo Junk. “Estoy muy orgulloso de lo que hemos podido lograr en los primeros dos años de su Administración. Hemos construido un gran equipo y hemos establecido una base sólida para impulsar a Oklahoma a convertirse en un estado Top Ten”.
Junk, de 36 años, se unió al equipo de transición del gobernador Stitt en noviembre de 2018 después de haber servido previamente como vicealcalde de Tulsa. Continuó residiendo en Tulsa con su esposa, Kathryn, y sus tres hijos, incluido un niño de 14 semanas de nacido durante el apogeo de la pandemia de COVID-19.
“Viajar entre Oklahoma City y Tulsa ha sido un desafío para mi familia y para mí”, dijo Junk. “Ahora es el tiempo adecuado para que me haga a un lado y me ponga al día con mis hijos pequeños y con esos momentos que no duran para siempre”.
El subjefe de gabinete Zachary Lee asumirá el cargo de jefe de gabinete interino a la salida de Junk. La búsqueda de un reemplazo permanente está actualmente en curso.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Kevin Stitt announced last week that Chief of Staff Michael Junk will transition out of the Stitt Administration to pursue opportunities closer to his family in Tulsa effective July 31.
“Michael Junk has been a steady hand that helped guide us through a number of historic challenges throughout my first 18 months in office,” said Gov. Stitt. “The State of Oklahoma is better because of the long hours and tireless effort he has provided, and I cannot thank him enough for his service.”
“It has been the honor of a lifetime working alongside Governor Stitt,” said Junk. “I am so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in the first couple years of the Stitt Administration. We have built a great team and set a solid foundation in pushing Oklahoma to become a Top Ten state.”
Junk, 36, joined Gov. Stitt’s transition team in November 2018 after previously serving as Deputy Mayor of Tulsa. He has continued to reside in Tulsa with his wife, Kathryn, and their three children, including a 14-week-old son born during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Commuting between Oklahoma City and Tulsa has been challenging for my family and me,” said Junk. “Now is the right time for me to step aside and catch up on some of the moments with my young children that will not last forever.”
Deputy Chief of Staff Zachary Lee will take over as interim Chief of Staff upon Junk’s departure. The search for a permanent replacement is currently underway.
