Carlos Santana protagonizará documental sobre su carrera

El guitarrista mexicano Carlos Santana protagonizará un documental de larga duración basado en su carrera y que contará con temas inéditos, informó este viernes en exclusiva el medio especializado Variety.
«La intención es tocar el corazón de las personas e inspirarlas a reconectar con su propia luz para que puedan atraer bendiciones y milagros», afirmó el músico a Variety en un claro guiño a su último trabajo, «Blessings and Miracles» (2021).
El documental, producido por Sony Music e Imagine Documentaries, repasará la trayectoria de Santana (Jalisco, México, 1947) desde sus inicios como músico callejero con 14 años hasta alcanzar el reconocimiento mundial con 10 premios Grammy y 3 Grammy Latinos.
Para ello, el artista entregó videos, fotos y diverso material de archivo al director de esta producción, Rudy Valdez, que se popularizó en 2018 con el filme «The Sentence».
Hasta el momento no ha trascendido el nombre de este documental, que se encuentra en proceso de grabación y será producido por Sara Bernstein, Justsin Wilkes y Lizz Morhaim.
Santana fue pionero en fusionar ritmos latinos con el género rock en la banda homónima que fundó en 1966 y, desde entonces, su figura y su música han obtenido todos los reconocimientos posibles, figurando, entre otros, en el Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll y en la lista de los 100 mejores guitarristas de la historia, elaborada por la revista Rolling Stones. Carlos Santana Documentary Coming From Director Rudy Valdez, Imagine, Sony Music Entertainment
Latin American jazz fusion icon Carlos Santana will be the subject of an expansive documentary directed by Emmy winner Rudy Valdez.
Imagine Documentaries is collaborating on the project with Sony Music Entertainment, which is co-financing and handling distribution. It will follow Santana’s journey from a 14-year-old street musician to a 10-time Grammy-winning global sensation, and feature unseen archival footage and tracks.
Valdez is the director of Sundance’s U.S. documentary audience award winner “The Sentence,” about the corrosive effect of mandatory minimum sentencing on convicts and their families. That project went on to win an Emmy and was released by HBO.
Currently filming, the untitled Santana doc is produced by Sara Bernstein and Justin Wilkes for Imagine, with Lizz Morhaim (“Rebuilding Paradise”). Imagine co-founders and Oscar winners Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are executive producers.
“I am honored and grateful to have partnered with Imagine Documentaries and Sony Music to bring my story to light. Director Rudy Valdez, along with Ron, Brian, Justin and Sara have embraced this journey, which is one of triumph and adventurousness,” Santana told Variety. “The intentionality of this film is to touch people’s hearts and to inspire people to re-connect with their own light that they may ignite blessings and miracles.”
Leopoldo Gout (“Molly’s Game”), Ashley Kahn (“Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool”) and Sam Pollard (“MLK/FBI”) also serve as producers. Meredith Kaulfers is co-executive producer for Imagine and Michael Vrionis is also an EP. Tom Mackay and Richard Story are executive producing on behalf of Sony Music Entertainment.
