La quinta ola del virus en México ya ha dejado un notable incremento en los contagios registrados a nivel nacional

Durante las últimas semanas ha ido en incremento la advertencia de un nuevo repunte de casos de COVID-19 en México. El aumento ya se ve convertido en una realidad con (nuevamente) largas filas de espera para conseguir hacer un testeo del virus, pruebas agotadas y el resurgimiento de resultados positivos. Se trataría de la quinta ola de la enfermedad, ante la cual diversos especialistas han emitido una serie de recomendaciones que coinciden, en resumidas cuentas, en la misma indicación: no bajar la guardia en los cuidados de protección sanitaria.

Hasta el corte de las 17 horas de este 25 de junio se confirmaron 5 millones 956 mil 732 casos y 325 mil 576 muertes totales desde que inició la contingencia sanitaria en el país. Solo del viernes para el sábado se contabilizaron 16 mil 214 casos nuevos y 23 defunciones. Actualmente, se tienen registrados 108 mil 502 casos activos a nivel nacional.

Según reportó el informe, de acuerdo al número de contagios acumulados confirmados por cada entidad, la mayor parte de los casos se acumula en 10 estados según sus estadísticas:

Ciudad de México (1 millón 469 mil 351), Estado de México (591 mil 623), Nuevo León (331 mil 090), Guanajuato (287 mil 146), Jalisco (251 mil 786), San Luis Potosí (191 mil 488), Tabasco (190 mil 907), Veracruz (185 mil 463), Puebla (173 mil 136) y Sonora (169 mil 310). Estas entidades sumarían el 64% de todos los casos acumulados en México.

“Estamos en un repunte de contagios (5a ola) que ya rebasa el pico de la 1a ola y va corriendo para, por lo menos, igualar los picos de las olas 2 y 3″, advirtió a través de un hilo de Twitter la Doctora en Medicina de Harvard, Laurie Ann Ximénez-Fyvie. “Esto, debería preocuparnos y llevarnos a que nos ocupemos en redoblar medidas preventivas para procurar detener la transmisión del virus en nuestras comunidades”.

Pero la especialista vaticinó un panorama distinto al advertir que es esta nueva ola se estima que el exceso de mortalidad escalará nuevamente, “esto no se observa en la gráfica de defunciones oficiales porque… bueno, ya saben por qué: rezago de información, subconteo de defunciones, y todo lo que ya sabemos”, aseguró. “El punto es que la situación se va complicar antes de que comience a mejorar y debemos procurar detener la transmisión para evitar más contagios, secuelas y muertes”.

Entonces la experta insistió en las medidas de rigor para la protecciòn sanitaria: el uso de cubrebocas, la ventilación/filtración del aire y la vacunación.

“Hasta que no esté bajo control esta ola: eviten aglomeraciones, aunque sean las mismas autoridades las que organicen las pachangas masivas”, indicó la especialista. “El cubrebocas es nuestro mejor aliado, pero no basta usar uno de buena calidad, sino que deben utilizarlo correctamente cubriendo nariz y boca, y ajustarlo muy bien al rostro para tener la máxima protección tanto para nosotros como para los demás”, concluyó la especialista.
