TULSA, OK – Un hombre de Oklahoma ha sido sentenciado por agredir sexualmente y estrangular a una ex pareja sentimental en 2019.

La jueza de distrito Gina M. Groh sentenció a Christopher Michael Guinn, de 23 años, a 240 meses de prisión federal seguidos de cinco años de libertad supervisada.

En enero, un jurado condenó a Guinn por abuso sexual agravado por la fuerza y amenaza en Indian Country y por agresión a una pareja íntima (de citas) por estrangulamiento e intento de estrangulamiento en Indian Country.

“Los actos de violencia de Christopher Guinn contra las mujeres son reprobables. En este caso, estranguló y agredió sexualmente a la víctima y luego la amenazó a ella y a sus hijos si no accedía a sus exigencias”, dijo el fiscal federal Clint Johnson. “Un equipo de las fuerzas del orden y las fiscales adjuntas Jessica Wright y Gina Gilmore han puesto fin a la conducta abusiva de Guinn. Esta sentencia de 20 años debe servir como advertencia de que mi oficina perseguirá y hará responsables a quienes aterroricen a sus parejas”.

En el juicio, el Estado alegó que en las primeras horas de la mañana del 17 de marzo de 2019, Guinn agredió sexualmente y estranguló a una ex compañero de citas. Durante la agresión, Guinn sujetó a la víctima y la agarró por el cuello. Guinn aplicó diversos grados de presión en el cuello de la víctima y, en varios momentos, la dejó jadeando.

La víctima declaró que Guinn la amenazó diciéndole que si ella y sus hijos no volvían a vivir con él, los encontraría. También le dijo que si denunciaba la agresión sexual, iría a casa de su madre mientras la víctima dormía y la violaría de nuevo. También creía que Guinn tenía una pistola bajo el colchón.

Cuando Guinn se quedó dormido, la víctima huyó y se puso en contacto con las fuerzas del orden. Los agentes de la oficina del sheriff del condado de Mayes respondieron y se reunieron con la víctima en el hospital. Documentaron las lesiones de la víctima y la entrevistaron. El departamento de policía de Tulsa realizó un examen SANE.

El Estado demostró además que Guinn tenía un historial de ejercer control sobre las mujeres y de agredirlas sexualmente. Otras dos mujeres que habían salido con Guinn testificaron sobre agresiones similares que habían sufrido por parte del acusado. También declararon que Guinn las maltrataba físicamente y las aislaba de sus amigos y familiares. Ambas tenían órdenes de protección contra el acusado.

En los argumentos finales, la fiscal adjunta Gina Gilmore dijo que tanto la víctima como el acusado revelaron quiénes eran con sus acciones. Recordó al jurado que la víctima denunció el delito, solicitó una orden de protección y compartió los detalles de forma constante y repetida con las autoridades estatales y federales. Gilmore dijo que el acusado también reveló quién era por su historia con las mujeres. Dijo que las pruebas demostraban que Guinn era controlador, aislante y tomaba lo que quería a pesar de que se le dijera “no”.

La oficina de campo del FBI en Oklahoma, la oficina del sheriff del condado de Mayes, el departamento de policía de Tulsa y la oficina de investigación del estado de Oklahoma llevaron a cabo la investigación. Las fiscales adjuntas Jessica L. Wright y Gina S. Gilmore se encargaron del caso.

Oklahoma man Sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexual abuse

TULSA, OK — An Oklahoma man has been sentenced for sexually assaulting and strangling a former dating partner in 2019.

U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh sentenced Christopher Michael Guinn, 23, to 240 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release.

In January, a jury convicted Guinn for aggravated sexual abuse by force and threat in Indian Country and for assault of an intimate/dating partner by strangling and attempting to strangle in Indian Country.

“Christopher Guinn’s acts of violence against women are reprehensible. In this case, he strangled and sexually assaulted the victim then threatened her and her children if she did not comply with his demands,” said U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. “A team of law enforcement agencies and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica Wright and Gina Gilmore have put a stop to Guinn’s abusive conduct. This 20-year sentence should serve as a warning that my office will prosecute and hold accountable those who terrorize their intimate partners.”

At trial, the United States alleged that in the early morning hours of March 17, 2019, Guinn sexually assaulted and strangled a former dating partner. During the assault, Guinn held the victim down and grabbed her around the neck. Guinn applied varying degrees of pressure to the victim’s neck and at several points, left the victim gasping for air.

The victim testified that Guinn threatened her by saying that if she and her children did not move back in with him, he would find them. He also told her that if she reported the sexual assault, he would come to her mother’s house while the victim was sleeping and rape the victim again. She also believed that Guinn had a gun under the mattress.

After Guinn fell asleep, the victim fled and contacted law enforcement. Deputies with the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office responded and met the victim at the hospital. They documented the victim’s injuries and interviewed her. The Tulsa Police Department conducted a SANE exam.

The United States further showed Guinn had a history of exerting control over women and sexually assaulting them. Two additional women who previously dated Guinn testified about similar assaults they endured by the defendant. They also testified that Guinn physically abused them and isolated them from friends and family. Both had protective orders against the defendant.

In closing arguments, Assistant U.S. Attorney Gina Gilmore said both the victim and defendant revealed who they were by their actions. She reminded the jury the victim reported the crime, filed for a protective order, and consistently and repeatedly shared details to both state and federal authorities. Gilmore said the defendant also revealed who he was by his history with women. She said the evidence showed Guinn was controlling, isolating, and took what he wanted despite being told “no.”

The FBI’s Oklahoma City Field Office, Mayes County Sheriff’s Office, Tulsa Police Department and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica L. Wright and Gina S. Gilmore prosecuted the case.
