Una empresa japonesa presentó en EEUU lo que podría ser el medio de transporte del futuro: una moto voladora, que podría ser lanzada en una versión comercial en EEUU en 2023.

La nueva Xturismo fue diseñada y desarrollada por la startup japonesa Aerwins y, de hecho, ya está a la venta en Japón. Tiene la capacidad de volar de manera autónoma durante 40 minutos y alcanza una velocidad de 100 km/h, según lo informó Reuters.

Es la primera en su tipo y fue lanzada en el Salón del Automóvil de Detroit, donde los aficionados a los vehículos pudieron probar la versión de exhibición. La moto voladora definitiva es algo más pequeña, explican.

Uno de los asistentes que pudo subir al vehículo declaró: “Siento que tengo 15 años y acabo de salir de Star Wars y me subí a su moto, ¡es asombroso! Fue emocionante. No es violento. Es cómodo, es muy cómodo despegar y aterrizar. No hay sacudidas, es muy, muy suave y estoy expectante por el futuro”.

De acuerdo a los desarrolladores, la primera edición comercial tendría un costo de US$777.000 en los EEUU.

Lo que todavía no está claro es cómo funcionará en términos normativos, es decir, si se regirá por las leyes de tránsito terrestre o si será considerado un vehículo volador, como un helicóptero o un dron, o si deberá tener un marco especial. Esta innovación abre así numerosas preguntas a las que los Estados deberán ir dando respuesta a medida que crezca su implementación, tal como ocurre con los vehículos no tripulados.

After being amazed by seeing the concept of a flying car, vehicle enthusiasts online can’t believe a flying bike is now reality and it has reminded netizens of the speeder bikes of “Star Wars”. The hoverbike manufactured by Japanese startup AERQINS Technologies made its debut in the United States at the Detroit Auto Show on Thursday, Reuters reported. Netizens are speechless over the video showing the bike hovering and landing after its flight.

The clip shared by news agency Reuters on Twitter shows a person taking off the bike and manoeuvring it mid-air. The hoverbike is carefully landed on the ground and the clip shows the world’s first flying bike’s features.

Thad Szott, co-chair of the auto show is heard saying in the video, “I feel like I’m literally 15 years old and I just got out of ‘Star Wars’ and jumped on their bike.” “I mean, it’s awesome! Of course, you have a little apprehension, but I was just so amped. I literally had goosebumps and feel like a little kid.”

According to a Reuters report, the XTURISMO hoverbike can fly for 40 minutes with maximum speeds of up to 62 miles per hour. The bike is already on sale in Japan and is set to be sold in the United States next year. The flying bike that reminded internet users of speeder bikes in Star Wars cost $777,000.
