Boxeador de Tulsa David Pérez sigue invicto / Tulsa boxer David Perez still undefeated

TULSA, OK – El boxeador profesional de Tulsa David Pérez (126 libras) sigue invicto tras su victoria por decisión unánime sobre Christopher Nelson de Louisville, Kentucky, en el Buffalo Run Casino & Resort de Miami el sábado 3 de diciembre por la noche. Pérez, de 24 años, superó a Nelson, de 30 años, un zurdo con más de 25 peleas profesionales, en cuatro asaltos ante un público que llenó el escenario.

“David dominó la pelea contra un rival muy duro y experimentado”, dice Aaron Sloan, mánager y entrenador de Pérez. “Ha estado trabajando duro en el gimnasio para preparar sus peleas, y eso se nota en el ring. Todos estamos orgullosos de su actuación, y creemos que tiene una gran carrera por delante”.

Pérez, que trabaja como entrenador en el Engine Room Boxing Gym de Tulsa, debutó como profesional justo antes de la pandemia de marzo de 2020 con una victoria por decisión unánime sobre el mexicano Gabriel Tacu. Tiene previsto pelear en Tulsa en abril en el Expo Square Pavilion.

Fuera del gimnasio, Pérez disfruta corriendo como parte de su régimen de entrenamiento. Corrió su primer maratón completo el mes pasado, completando el maratón Route 66 de Tulsa el 20 de noviembre en menos de tres horas y media, quedando en 64/894 en la general y 55/518 entre todos los hombres que compitieron.

“Entrenar para ese maratón y superarlo me ayudó con mi resistencia mental y física”, dice Pérez. “Creo que ha dado sus frutos en esta lucha. He aprendido que, independientemente de la situación, hay que estar preparado para hacer los ajustes necesarios”.

El gimnasio Engine Room Boxing, situado en el 316 E. 11th Street, es propiedad y está dirigido por Aaron Sloan, enfermero cardiaco titulado, presidente de la franquicia Golden Gloves de Kansas-Oklahoma y entrenador, juez y árbitro certificado por USA Boxing. The Engine Room ofrece entrenamiento de competición y fitness, así como el programa Ready to Fight Parkinson’s Specific. Desarrollado por el entrenador Sloan en 2016, RTF es ahora el programa oficial de boxeo terapéutico de USA Boxing.

El gimnasio Engine Room también alberga Engine Room VR, una startup tecnológica que recientemente lanzó Golden Gloves VR, un juego de boxeo en realidad virtual avalado por Golden Gloves of America y disponible para descargar en Oculus Store.

Tulsa boxer David Perez still undefeated

TULSA, OK – Tulsa pro boxer David Perez (126 lbs) remains undefeated after his win by unanimous decision over Louisville, Kentucky’s Christopher Nelson at Miami’s Buffalo Run Casino & Resort Saturday night, Dec. 3. Perez, 24, outboxed the 30-year-old Nelson – a southpaw with over 25 professional fights – in four rounds in front of a capacity crowd.

“David dominated the fight against a very tough and experienced opponent,” says Aaron Sloan, Perez’ manager and coach. “He’s been working hard in the gym to prepare for his fights, and that shows in the ring. We’re all proud of his performance, and we believe he has a great career ahead of him.”

Perez, who works as a trainer at Tulsa’s Engine Room Boxing Gym, made his pro debut just before the pandemic in March 2020 with a win by unanimous decision over Mexico’s Gabriel Tacu. He is scheduled to fight in Tulsa in April at the Expo Square Pavilion.

Outside of the gym, Perez enjoys running as part of his training regimen. He ran his first full marathon last month, completing Tulsa’s Route 66 Marathon on Nov. 20 in under three and a half hours, coming in at 64/894 overall and 55/518 for all men competing.

“Training for and getting through that marathon helped me with both my mental and physical endurance,” says Perez. “I think it paid off in this fight. I’ve learned that regardless of the situation, be ready to make any adjustments necessary.”

The Engine Room Boxing Gym at 316 E. 11th Street is owned and operated by Aaron Sloan, a registered cardiac nurse, President of the Kansas-Oklahoma Golden Gloves franchise, and a USA Boxing-certified coach, judge and referee. The Engine Room offers competition and fitness training, as well as the Ready to Fight Parkinson’s Specific program. Developed by Coach Sloan in 2016, RTF is now the official therapy-boxing program of USA Boxing.

The Engine Room gym is also home to Engine Room VR, a startup tech company that recently launched Golden Gloves VR, a virtual reality boxing game endorsed by Golden Gloves of America and available for download on the Oculus Store.
