Christina da Silva es la nueva jefa de gabinete de la alcaldía
TULSA, OK – Hace un año La Semana dijo que Christina Starzl da Silva era “Estrella en Ascenso de la comunidad latina de Tulsa” y esa afirmación se hizo realidad la semana pasada cuando el alcalde de Tulsa, G.T Bynum la nombró Jefa de gabinete. “Estoy muy contento de anunciar que Christina da Silva será ascendida a jefa de gabinete”, dijo Bynum en un post de Facebook el 7 de diciembre. “Durante los pasados dos años Christina ha probado ser única en su trabajo y tener un compromiso apasionante con quienes han sido históricamente relegados en nuestra ciudad”.
El puesto quedó vacante tras la denuncia de Michael Junk, quien decidiera unirse al equipo del nuevo gobernador Kevin Stitt, a quien servirá de jefe de gabinete del estado, Amy Brown, que anteriormente gozara de ese puesto se convirtió en la nueva Deputy Major. Bynum eligió a Da Silva, que trabaja hace dos años en la alcaldía como asistente de políticas públicas de la comunidad, para llenar los zapatos de Brown y liderar el gabinete de la ciudad.
Es la posición más importante en la municipalidad de Tulsa que ocupar un inmigrante en la historia de la ciudad. Da Silva es nativa de Panamá y se mudó a Estados Unidos a la corta edad de cinco años. “En este nuevo rol será emponderada para incorporar todas sus políticas y deseos en un espectro mucho mayor mientras asiste a la Deputy Major Amy Brown y a Jack Blair con sus responsabilidades diarias”, dijo el alcalde agregando que da Silva seguirá a cargo de la New Tulsans Initiative, una propuesta para hacer de la ciudad un lugar acogedor para que los inmigrantes vivan, trabajen y críen a sus hijos.
“Estoy super contenta de poder trabajar con Amy y Jack en este nuevo rol y espero poder guiar tipos de política que nos permitan construir una fuerza laboral más fuerte y equitativa en la ciudad”, dijo Da Silva. “Con mi trabajo en la New Tulsans Initiative, seguiré construyendo puentes entre la ciudad y la comunidad para que nos convirtamos en socios y mejoremos la educación impulsando el liderazgo en los más jóvenes”.
Da Silva es una miembro destacada de la comunidad latina es parte del comité asesor de las siguientes organizaciones: Birth Through Eight Strategy, Coalition of Hispanic Organizations, Tulsa Assistance League y la Hispanic Young Professionals.
Como funcionaria de la ciudad sirve en el comité del Gilcrease Museum Board of Trustees, Tulsa Park and Recreation Board y la Tulsa Authority for the Recovery of Energy (TARE).

Christina da Silva Mayor Bynum’s new Deputy Chief of Staff

TULSA, OK — One year ago, La Semana dubbed Christina Starzl da Silva “Latin Tulsa’s Rising Star,” a statement that was proven to be no exaggeration last week when Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum elevated da Silva to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff.
“I am excited to announce that Christina da Silva is being promoted to serve as my Deputy Chief of Staff,” Mayor Bynum said in a December 7 Facebook post. “Over the last two years, Christina has proven herself to be uniquely thoughtful in her work and passionately committed to those historically overlooked in our city.”
The position became available after former Deputy Mayor Michael Junk resigned to become Governor-elect Kevin Stitt’s Chief of Staff, and the previous Deputy Chief of Staff, Amy Brown, was appointed to be the new Deputy Mayor. Bynum chose da Silva, who has served for the past two years as the mayor’s Community Development and Policy Assistant, to take on Brown’s duties as Deputy Chief of Staff.
It is believed to be the highest position in Tulsa municipal government thus far held by an immigrant. A native of Panama, da Silva moved to the United States when she was five years old.
“In this new role she will be empowered to incorporate her policy work across a broader spectrum, while also assisting Deputy Mayor Amy Brown and Chief of Staff Jack Blair with their daily management responsibilities,” the mayor explained, adding that da Silva would continue to head up the New Tulsans Initiative, the city’s bold effort to make Tulsa a welcoming place for immigrants to live, work, and raise their families.
“I’m beyond thrilled to work with Amy and Jack in this new role and look forward to helping guide policy that will build a stronger and more equitable workforce here at the City,” da Silva said. “With my work on the New Tulsans Initiative, I will continue to bridge relationships within the community as the City strives to become a more effective partner to improve education outcomes and promote civic leadership among Tulsa’s youth.”
da Silva is an active member in the community and serves on the Birth Through Eight Strategy Advisory Committee, Coalition of Hispanic Organizations, Tulsa Assistance League and the Hispanic Young Professionals. In her official capacity with the City, she serves on the Gilcrease Museum Board of Trustees, Tulsa Park and Recreation Board and the Tulsa Authority for the Recovery of Energy (TARE).
“Christina is one of the great leaders in our city, and I am thankful she has agreed to serve the citizens of Tulsa in this position,” Mayor Bynum said. (La Semana)
